Downloading from camera

My system crashed recently and I changed to Windows 7. I've just realized it doesn't support the Nikon photo software Picture View.

Not a problem as I can use Coral or even Windows own system. This seems to have some good reviews but I just wondered if anyone uses it?

Hi Knocker,

If you take the memory card from the camera and use a card reader, then fastone or irfanview are good photo viewers, and they are free.

It is worth considering Adobe Lightroom as a downloading/organising tool.
You can download a free trial. http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
Especially good for RAW but still very useful with jpg.

I thought the price not bad really as it has some surprisingly good editing ability now too.
I have photoshop too, but unless I need to venture into layers, Lightroom does most things just fine.
Faststone is nice as mentioned above - mainly as  viewer. It can edit but is a bit crude (free though) OK for quick crop/resize.

For basic viewing, cropping, colour mangement etc. I have always used Irfanview via a card reader. Anything more complex then it's PhotoShop Elements.

Main advantage with Irfanview is it will cope with just about any camera RAW files though it doesn't support video files (at the moment)

Downloading direct from a camera is normally very slow, frought and limited by comparison as camera designers are not the best software programers.
