Well anything wintry has gone west on tonight's runs. Happened every time this winter. Lows with cold air wrapped round them then poof the cold air has gone when it gets 24 to 48 hours away.

yes its very annoying isnt it. Its been a testing winter this one for coldies, thats for sure!

Lets hope next year is better.

To make things worse, models tonight are painting a very mild picture next week. I suppose there are also hints that it may then cool down again but as weve said above, will that then again be taken away from us? will we see snow in March?

Time will tell of course......

worst winter in years yet apart from storm surge dec 5th the odd heavy showers and strong gusts my area been missed.  What fellow yellowbellies think.

Worry the lack rain had 7.4mm yesterday but we not had nowhere enough to cover us for a dry summer.

When was the last time it rained in Leeds?

Nice day so far today - occasional cloud, but most of it has been kept west of the Pennines.

maybe we should rename our two counties Shire desert.  Good point cheese the penines is natural inhibiter.

The other notice lots rain walls splits in wales both separate drift further.  Net result we miss alot rainfall, I am sure that snowdonia is the culprit of the split.   If winds NE bring rain our area gets it bad sure linc wolds is the culprit to this. Could be the first landfall net result bad weather, still think wolds having effect.  Problem is its not very often we see NE winds which drags scandinavia weather towards us.

Last rained in Sheffield yesterday nothing measurable since the 7th though.

Now it's windy with winds reaching gale force and gusting to 53 mph.

Heavy shower just passing through with lots of hail and the odd hailstone just over the 1cm diameter mark. Accompanied by lots of thunder initially although sadly it became much less electrified just as it arrived. It was going at about 3 -4 strikes per minute before it got here. Temp has also dropped to 4.7°C having been 5.9°C beforehand: this figure though was the result of the shower that passed through around 13:15.

Nice to hear a good bit of thunder and these were the biggest hailstones I have seen here since 2004!

Some late afternoon showers provided some hail. No thunder or lightning though.

yes lots of hail today, nice to see. The clouds looked great today, love these big convective showery days Posted Image

And.......interesting times ahead maybe? Three ECM runs in a row now showing an invasion of very cold air from the east/north east into April? The other models arent too disimilar either. Could mean some snow if that arrived shourly???? Posted Image

Coldest morning of the winter (Spring) with a minimum of -3.6c. Lovely out now tho albeit chilly, had some wet flakes in the heavier showers yesterday which was a nice surprise. Looking at the charts it seems northern blocking will take hold as we head towards April. F.F.S!

Yes, considering Met Office forecast for this area is moderate to heavy RAIN for the next 4-5 hours, and so far it's all been snow.............

No snow here some hail just after lunch 13:20 ish which brought the temp down to 6.1C. Didn't last long. At the moment there's just the odd spot of rain in the wind. I suspect if I went up to fox house I may see the odd flake go past. However with rising dew points it may not to be around for long. So beefier rain showers may provide some more snow later for the peak district if they survive the journey.

Rain showers weakening and fizzling out before they get here. Could be quite interesting with black ice tomorrow if the skies clear.
