I suspect the clearing has now stopped. They also increased the gully clearing after the floods but since it's gone to Amey it's stopped again.

Horrible mild week ahead forecast from the BBC Posted Image temps looking around 8C - 10C!!!

What a truly disastrous winter this has been, Were now past mid february, so thats it now I think.

To have a snowless winter in Yorkshire is remarkable isnt it. Weve got to wait at least 10 months now probably before we can hope again Posted Image

Horrid!

Could well hit double digits today. It's 9C and a bit too cloudy but it's not even 2 yet. Feels pleasant.

Sunday is already forecast to reach 10C.

Thursdays rain has been downgraded quite a bit as well.

My garden finally seems to have less standing water for the first time in weeks! Had a walk past the river Don today, it's difficult to imagine there are rivers bursting banks allover the country. It didn't look much different to summer months level wise, infact I've seen it much higher.

Well we haven't had the rainfall other areas have had and a dry December will have helped.

Been in double figures a couple of times this week already. Winds getting up though but spring is certainly here.

Forget spring, we havent had winter yet Posted Image

Im hoping for a re-run of March 2013, not 2012!!! We deserve a cold icy blast.

Sick of watching the BBC weather website ramming the cold USA down our throats every day aswell in videos. They love bashing us coldies. Makes me so mad!!

No chance of any Winter now. Above average temps for the foreseeable future perhaps the odd day closer to normal. Weekend maybe more normal temps with some light rain moving south.

Its actually looking like we're going to end winter without any sleet/snow, just a single day with a max below 5C, a frostless December and February (the first ever) and only 4 air frosts for the entire season.

It has most definitely been the worst winter ever for anything wintry.

At least we had some snow pellets overnight some sleet but the worst winter I can remember. Luckily we had some storms otherwise it would have been a total write rather than 98% write off.

Some getting getting over excited on the model thread over the average temps this weekend thinking it will bring snow. May do if on the highest peak otherwise nope not a chance.

yeah its a shame. I think next weekend was our last hope but the cold isnt going to be strong enough!

lets just put this poor excuse of a winter to bed now, move on and hope for something better next year.

It has been truly exceptional hasnt it, especialy with no snow for Yorkshire. Shourly every other winter now will be better!??

The positive way to look at it is probably just that - at least we'll always have snowier winters now lol!

Below average rainfall for March anybody?

Just looking at the current pattern and there are only 2 fronts in the next week (indeed it looks a lovely and sunny week since the fronts pass overnight), should the ECWMF be right i dare say we in Yorkshire could be looking at the best part of a week with no rain.

Wow, more than 2 days without rain! That must be a record in itself, lol

I hope that it is that way as I would like to get into the garden to do some soil shifting after I installed a new boundary fence.

No frost here last night however plenty in the Vale of York around Strensall, looks like we will see a return to nightime frosts by the weekend!

I'm not getting excited, although it'd be nice to see a few flakes.

Okay definitely not for Friday as the most needed ingredient is rain and that's not present and far to the south of us. More chance Saturday and Saturday afternoon if the Low loops back over us. Strangely one of the most promising one displayed for some time. So high ground yes lower ground possible depending on how heavy the precipitation is. Sunday is also interesting. Need to look closer to the time.

Saturday joins the dead duck party until late evening when there's a chance of some wet snow around but likely to be sleet away from the highest ground and Sunday goes marginal way as well. So cold and wet weekend evenings coming up is the most probably story.
