Foolishly opened a window on the south facing side of the house to look for damage. The wind blew it shut onto my nose ouch! Posted Image

The wind seems to have died down here in south Leeds,

the gusts seem more spaced out in time intervals (not thePosted Image  type)

My cat Tigger is still a uneasy,  she has come out from under the bed (her safe place)

She's now lounging on the sofa (her normal place)

Things seem to have eased slightly, had a quick look round in the dark, I reckon two ridge tiles and a good few slates gone, plus some guttering probably knocked off by the ridge tiles. My weather station reckons the top gust was 87 mph, at 6.05 pm. It's been pretty accurate as far as I've been able to tell previously, though has never had to record such strong gusts before. Mind you I think Emley Moor got 79 mph, and we usually register a bit higher than there, so could well be right.

Sod being up there. I wonder how much it is swaying in the wind

I was driving too fast to look. However i did mention that to my daughter and asked her if she fancied being up there.

Next doors dodgy fence panels have blown away and my rain gauge has gone for a little trip. Hope it still works! Other than that everything seems o.k. can't see roof yet to check tiles.. I really enjoyed yesterday's storm..weather on sky news all day..it was bliss. Obviously those who sustained damage won't feelthe same

Well neighbour has a whole in the roof. Somebodies green house was falling to bits somewhere yesterday. Too dark to see anything though.

I was quite concerned for the chimney stack I share with next door, infact the entire side of her roof is in a bad state. Luckily it stayed put. I went out about 7:30pm and stood in the wind..incredible feeling. When we have the roof done later in the year I'm getting the anemometer put up there, it didn't register anything over 30mph.

Spotted a bit more damage. House down the road has ridge tiles missing. But damage really slight which is surprising.

Wind arrive din the earlier hours rather than gusting high 40's it decided to go for 64 mph. So a windy night making up for the ones that didn't turn up earlier this winter except I slept through it all until five.

Wow..wasn't expecting it to get so gusty! My cheeky little kittens woke us up at about 5:30.

Any changes in air pressure seem to send them crazy..doing the wall of death round the house, who needs a barometer when you have cat's! The ground is saturated in my garden, rains not soaking simply running off to the lowest point and creating a new water feature.

Been out and about this morning, seems to be lot's of surface flooding appearing this end of Sheffield. Any dips in the road are just turning into huge pond like puddles.

Just amazing how the Don Sheaf and Rother are taking the constant rain mostly in their stride http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120702.aspx

To be fair to the council they did a good job of clearing them out after the last floods, just hope they continue to cope well.
