Had a quite squally burst at around 2:30 then blue skies and relatively calm winds, just starting to go dark and blustery again.. like the seas parted for the school run :) I forsee a fun and noisey night! Stay safe everyone..

Considering it's still southerly a 59 mph gust isn't bad.

Some sleet in the heavy rain earlier

Yeah it's livening up here now, a few nasty gusts knocking around, lights flickering too.

Seriously windy here now. A constant roar and howling gusts.

I should think around 60 mph.

I'll be interested to see the wind speed facts later.

Amazed my village still has the 'leccy, it has often lost it in less than this.

Swimming pool roof in Salendine Nook, Huddersfield was reportedly blown off while there were still people in the pool. Thankfully, everyone got out unhurt.

Looks like the worst has passed. Pressure has risen 3mb in the past hour while gusts have dropped around 4mph.

Blowing a hoolie here, although I think it was worse about 20 minutes or so ago. Difficult to estimate wind speeds and my anemometer is in a useless place but I reckon some of the gusts are hitting 70mph or so. Will be higher over the Wolds to the west though.

Stay indoors if you can: dangerous to be outside with trees shedding bits.....
