Some heavier precipitation moving into Wales just now which is expected to track North East and into the North Midlands and South Yorkshire during the early hours according to Paul Hudson on Look North earlier.

Might even wake up to a slight covering tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath!

Yup been nicked a brief dusting early in the night and I mean slight dusting. Wind and rain to look forward too now.

Never arrived. A winter of zero snow cover firmly on the cards.

Woken up to a mega light dusting of snow. Bit depressing realy lol. Noticed met o have now included south yorks in the amber warning, should be an interesting evening for us..my elderly neighbour has a very neglected chimney stack and roof, with the met sugesting 70 mph gusts I'll be suprised if we get away with no damage up here.

Thanks Paul, it's the down side of living so high up. Brilliant for snow but the wind barrels across the top of the valleys and regularly causes slight damage. The last storm of 60 mph+ saw most of the ridge tiles lost on houses up here. Guess it's a case of hope for the best.

Bit worried about what mother nature has in store for us lot. With the ground being so saturated trees will easily come down.

I've had sky news on this morning, between that and browsing various websites I'm starting to become slightly concerned. We are very exposed up here...

Whilst the weather enthusiast in me feels quite excited the homeowner in me is hoping for no serious damage.

Back edge of main band, now approaching western pennines. Then roughly a clearance of 60 - 90 mins before the showers get going. This is the time to get loose items fastened down..

Also, we may benefit with the fall in temps/dewpoints at best time of day ( Dusk ), and get a light covering ?

Thundersnow here at 19:25!

There is now a sugar coating on the paths and everything is beginning to freeze hard. I had expected something today but gave up once the front had passed as showers from the west usually fail to deliver here, especially after dark. A nice surprise. Posted Image

The $1m question though is: will there be enough on the ground tomorrow morning to have my first now day of the winter? I would hate to have a winter without a single snow day - it hasn't happened since I lived in Pembrokeshire, 25 years ago!

Glad to see someone nearby saw something this winter.

We're still on course for a completely snowless winter here as even though that shower yesterday evening just grazed us it was rain! Just a bit too mild as it wasn't heavy enough to let the temperature fall.

Paul Hudson â€@Hudsonweather 9 mins

Yorks & Lincs: Severe gales developing, peak 6pm to midnight. Wind gusting 60-70mph, but around 80mph more exposed parts of Yorkshire.

Paul Hudson â€@Hudsonweather 8 mins

Frequent showers this evening & tonight turning increasingly to snow especially over Pennines, blizzard conditions are likely at times.

well those members that are at elevation have a fun night...poor us at lower levels will just have to wait for the ECM to verify ???????
