Hard call with the low sinking south and all? It certainly a developing feature easy o see on the MetO infra red images. So are the showers that are pepping up now!

EDIT: Am I seeing the Irish Sea add into the convection???

Hi everyone

Just joined the forums today!

You can tell how bad this winter has been for cold as I'm getting excited about sleet!

Speaking of which it's a full on sleet fest here at the moment. Although it looks like it's turning more into full on snow. Even if it does it will take some to stick as it's very wet out there.

Operation lamp post watching is well under way! Posted Image

Welcome to the new members in our region. Let's hope some of these showers can make their way further east overnight! I'd be excited just to see some sleet or wet snow after the last couple of months.

Hi Wozafax, welcome to Netweather..... to answer your question this winter  for cold so far has been dire , this week coming is probably the best for cold and wintry conditions but nothing disruptive so to speak... so far this winter ...the week after who knows but the models are not going to put the uk in the freezer just yet but there is still lots of potential on the table

I'm interested to see if the strat has an effect in the coming weeks.

In the meantime I think we'll see more rain than snow this week, but it certainly knife edge stuff. By the way that is based on nothing other than reading way to many weather forums and sites!  I'm rubbish at reading charts. I try, but I'll look at a chart and think SNOWMAGEDDON, but then I go on the forums and the experts say it will be BBQ weather!

The sleet here turned back into rain and then stopped. If any snow does fall it will be while we are asleep I think. Pretty sure any lying snow will be confined to the moor.

Any snow forecast for sheffield tonight?

Possibly, the showers seem to be to your North at the moment, but if they head South overnight and you have decent elevation, you could be in for a surprise. RADAR AND LAMPOST......SORTED :)

Any snow forecast for sheffield tonight?

hard to say .... theres some snow showers to your west..not sure if they will make it.... theres also a much more organised band of showers entering Ireland right now and something on satellite behind them even more organised...cant be too sure where that's heading though... I pm`d  frosty to have a look and get back to me on here ....
