Forgetting the Snow big story looks like being the wind according to the latest GFS. Could be the biggest storm to hit the region for a long time. I think this is what we need to be looking at.

Looks like gusts of 70-75mph possible across Yorkshire tomorrow, especially to the east of the Pennines around lunchtime/early afternoon. Disruption certainly seems possible in some areas.

N-S routes like the A1 will be tricky especially for high sided vehicles.

Just ventured out with the whippet.

Lively out there indeed !  I had to brace my feet sometimes not

to be blown over.

Lost power, but thankfully only for a minute.

Lots of bins, pots blown over, but can't see any serious damage in

my village so far.

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/news/151065.aspxWorst coastal storm surge for 30 years expected tomorrow.

Just been on a Conference Call with our local EA staff. The scale of the surge will be comparable with 1953. They are growing more confident in that now. Doesn't mean the damage will be as bad because flood defences are much better, but it is a substantial threat to life and property in low lying areas of the East Coast, though Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex look at greatest risk. With a surge height of +2-3m above predicted high tide, that will make the tide height where I'll be tonight well over 9 metres, which is as high as I've seen it in 30 years. A very windy day max gust 74 mph still gusting to just below 60 mph.

Should start to moderate soon though.

Low lying areas particularly vulnerable around the Humber Estuary & Lincs Coastline from this evenings tidal surge, stay safe.

There's been quite a bit of property damage up here..fences, ridge tiles and small trees mainly, most of it occurred between 12-2pm. Still, minor damage compared to what costal areas are facing :(

Well looking at the webcam for Scarborough north bay, the sea is becoming very rough now with the waves already crashing onto the road, and we are 1 hour and 45 minutes from high tide! MagicSeaweed surf website predicting the largest waves/swell to be overnight and into tomorrow morning with wave heights between 8-13ft. So I suspect tomorrow mornings high tide will be pretty epic. May have to take a trip to the coast in the morning.
