Weird, all falling as rain/wet sleet at calverley (west leeds). And I'm 120asl here as well! Strange when hearing reports of heavy snow at lower altitudes just a few miles away!

Hmm, turned more to sleety snow now in calverley (west leeds). Very heavy but no where near settling, far too wet. Surprised at reports of settling snow just a couple of miles away tbh!

seems its turned more readily to snow than forecast?

Paul Hudson on Look North said 'wintry showers' which to me isnt snow lol. Looking at the radar this is a general area of snow!

Turned sleety here. It's down to how heavy the precipitation is - heaviest stuff has moved away from here and is affecting areas around Castleford and Rotherham.

Parents now reporting heavy snow.

In Armley and the temperature and dew point are now both 1C, definitely sleet.

I'm off to the shop, will report back.

I had a feeling snow would fall - there are always little surprises in store. I recall one event in 2011, February I believe, when no snow was forecast to areas below 300m, yet a few cm fell.

It's turned to snow on the M62 summit in Saddleworth and Calderdale (about 400m asl), was rain up until 10 mins ago.

Heavy snow and all but the main roads are covered. Must laugh at the met office warning for this evening ( snow above 300-400mtrs turning back to rain ) UMmmm.

Little clip of the moment it turned from sleet to wet snow in Garforth- 86m asl. Still sleeting and snow in the heavier bursts so a nice bonus for many of us tonight! Here's to a long winter of it!

Looking out the window at snow is much more enjoyable than looking at endless high pressure in the charts!
