yes the rain today around lunchtime was torrential! certainly unexpected realy.

Felt lovely and cold and autumnal though didnt it, car temp read only 9C coming home at 4:30. Its so nice to finaly lose the mild conditions that have hung around for so long.

maybe even a touch of frost on the cards in some places tonight

Did you have a ground frost? Dropped to 3.2c here but no frost, although there was patches of frost on the golf course at Strensall when I played this morning.

Some snow graphics being shown overnight for parts of the Yorkshire dales, not entirely sure on the snow level but I would take a guess at 300/400m so somewhere like Greenhow Hill could see something wintry. Blubberhouses already at 4.0c. Hail/ snow showers above 600m tomorrow also with possible thunder. Wish I lived on a hill, just the prospect of a ground frost to get me excited tonight Posted Image

First winteryness of the year here this morning, only some sleet so nothing to get excited about, but still nice to know winter is definitely brewing up !

Well a heavy shower brought seem sleet to us this afternoon as temps dropped away. Another shower not far away now that may be interesting if it keeps developing.

Yes it was sleeting and hailing up at my level today this afternoon, was a nice surprise.

Look North didnt mention anything about wintry showers yesterday on the weather but it was only 4C max today for me and those showers were a bonus! Posted Image

Me too - quite heavy sleet / almost wet snow for a while in Bents Green (about 200m).

Just an hour after putting the winter tyres on the car....

Bring it on !!!

Even at lower levels in Sheffield (Archer Road) there was sleet in the heavy precipitation.  Not expected.

It fell as hail up here, clouds were a rather impressive shade of 'black out the sun' while it passed..

SO, growing support in the model thread that a cold week next week could be setting up Posted Image

Lovely ECM tonight, for Yorkshire, it would shourly mean some snow about me thinks?

Not sure if the ECM would produce the goods for our neck of the woods as winds stay mostly west of north but you never know its likely it will change a few times before next week. :)

Well we have had a lovely crisp, fresh morning today, and with Christmas now only six weeks away, I'm beginning to get that 'seasonal' feeling, especially given some of the output that is now showing in the charts for next week!

We obviously don't know what next week will bring for conditions 'on the ground' for our region, and whilst we are unlikely to have a re-run of November / December 2010 (*reverse psychology*), just a run of frosty mornings and a dusting of the white stuff will be enough for me to whet my appetite for the start of Winter 2013/2014 proper.

Bring it on!  Posted Image

Id be thinking anything over 100 mts would give light snow in that flow ,850s and dew points.Bit of a long shot but as anyone got a link showing the look north forecast for the nov 2010 streamer that burried sheff and the surrounding area?

Ooo I remember that! It was brilliant :) it would be nice to see a dusting soon, I'll not hold my breath though and anything we do happen to get will be a bonus!

Looks very tasty next Wednesday morning, winds veering North East with some cold uppers, I think during the day I might struggle to see snow from any showers due to lower elevation but overnight I could be in for a covering. NYM and Yorkshire wolds look the best bet at the moment. Still 5/6 days away so detail will change but certainly in cold one for all next week :)
