The summer days watching storms die as they get close to me having told the wife we are in for a direct hit, having to listen to people saying how good there storms are when i havent had a drop of rain, cursing where i live coz of the lack of storms.  BUT

AUGUST 23, STORM SHIELD YOU TOOK ONE HELL OF A BEATING

I am not having that i have had only seen a few lightning strikes as the lightning overlay says. There have been at least 20 must be a fault with it.

Radar looks menacing for much of the NE now. Little batch heading straight for Durham and Tyne & Wear after the east and south of the region has taken the majority of convective action so far tonight. Eerily comforting with the dark sky and heavy rain pouring down.

I need to buy the netweather 5 min radar but in the meantime is that ppn to the south east of the region intensifying IF?

Can confirm from the loft window that this is / was a superb storm .

Flashes of purple lightning across the sky looking towards ICI / Redcar ....bottle of Bud in hand whilst watching... ...priceless !

I took a vid of the first storm and have tried to edit it ...but failed. I managed to pause the video on the computer then took a photo of the screen shot ......needless to say Im happy with this ....

Thats looking South across to Eston Hills from the back door .

to the south-east, it's heading to the North Sea, so I'm not sure it's relevant to us, but to the south-west, it seems to be so.

Those storms seem almost stuck on the Cleveland Hills, we are seeing a lot of lightning and rumbling over there, but just short bursts of rain here - 2mm, meanwhile I see Battersby for example has had about 20mm.

Raining like 2007 up in here, like some sort of sadistic disco for lovers of the dark and grim. I'd like it if my satellite dish wasn't as edgy as Lindsay Lohan post-2008.

Think that might be enough for tonight...

More thunder and lightning here at the moment but just moderate rain at the moment.

Glorious day today up-to 21.5c and rising not a cloud in the sky and no wind. Is it really August Bank holiday Monday today?! this certainly makes up for the many wet and cool one's we've had over the years

A fresh but sunny start to the day in Darlo this morning hardly a cloud in the sky

Currently 14.0c and rising

After a blip this weekend things will return to normal next week with the summer warmth returning

The blip was certainly felt here today, miserable day barely above 15C, murky cloudy skies and a howling wind. One to forget.. looking forward to some brightness again.
