Hi Cheeky!

I linked to an article looking at the past winter over in the man made thread as KL's claims were so patently false. Seems that no state broke its cold records and , in fact, California had its warmest winter on record!

Funny how you ignore verified stats from a reliable source Posted Image

I wonder why the IPCC hasn't learned any lessons more alarmist hype at least some don't want to have their names attached to it.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/mar/27/ipcc-author-climate-report-alarmist

e.g Tol said farmers, for instance, could grow new crops if the climate in their region became hotter, wetter or drier. "They will adapt. Farmers are not stupid," he said.

I loved the comment on Radio 4 today re the Scottish mountain hare dying due to lack of snow cover in the future, currently must be buried in snow up there.

Unfortunately real data never goes down well in some circles.

I wouldn't want to 'sell' global warming to the self facing Americans

As new poster feel upset to missed brilliant debate.

I always believed it was crock of fiction.  Felt climate goes in cycles some marginal then some bigger swings.  The vid exposing IPCC tells alot how we been duped.  How many young scientist got there degrees on back invested helpers paying for there education.  Its almost like engineered war get enough foot soldiers make it believable then throw in new market opportunities which make few very rich.

Remember somewhere but cant think who, he said man can only effect climate by 0.1%.  Now not saying there not been some influence and man does polutes with dangerous chemicals.  Smog just recently says this is so.   How much data been warped by natural disasters all the bombs man chucked in 2 great wars and its nukes fetish detonatisions afterwards.  Scientists or lets say amatuer IPCC forget krakatoa erruption how much it effected worlds climate.

Unfortunately there isn't much 'debate' at present as you can see on the other thread. 'Any' comment that isn't saying its 'a done deal' is shouted down.

A few years ago there were debates but both camps have become so polarized its kind of sad.

Main stream media tend to pick up the more vocal alarmist and what we have seen in recent years is any 'weather event' has to be  due to climate change, the recent smog and the recent cold weather in the USA being an example.

1985

Ramanathan and collaborators announce that global warming may come twice as fast as expected, from rise of methane and other trace greenhouse gases. Villach Conference declares consensus among experts that some global warming seems inevitable, calls on governments to consider international agreements to restrict emissions.

Its funny how you ignore the fact that i live in North America and no where was it reported that it was the coldest winter in 105 years..plus neither October,November and March are winter months either.

One of the coldest and certainly the coldest in the last 20 yrs, its not about IMBY and I cant see these folk talking up climate change

For the North-East and Mid-West yes, Not North America, S/West round to East, or South. So maybe IMBY is involved.

Exactly its easy to cherry pick a protion of the US and state it was the coldest winter since when ever..as a nation it was the coldest since 2009-10..some parts were indeed very cold and snowy some parts were very mild and dry but nobody wants to talk about that...being very mild doesnt make the news the same way as being very cold does ..simply because it causes no disruption and has little affect on everyones day to day life.

Climate scientist ridicules U.N. report as junk.
Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2014/04/climate-scientist-ridicules-u-n-report-as-junk/#w5LTxP6eXpeMASYg.99

NEW YORK – A prominent environmental scientist has gone public with his scorn for the recently released fifth climate assessment of U.N.’s International Panel on Climate Change, which concluded that a continued rise in carbon dioxide levels in the Earth’s atmosphere could risk human extinction.

Leslie Woodcock, emeritus professor of chemical thermodynamics at the University of Manchester’s School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science, mocked the terms “climate change†and “global warming†in a scientific critique of the U.N.’s climate fears.

Woodcock, a former NASA researcher, said the theory of “man-made climate change†is an “unsubstantiated hypothesis.â€

“Water is a much more powerful greenhouse gas, and there is 20 times more of it in our atmosphere, around one percent of the atmosphere, whereas CO2 is only 0.04 percent,†he said, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post in the U.K.

Woodcock, who received his Ph.D. from the University of London, is a fellow of the royal society of chemical engineering, a founding editor of Molecular Simulation and a recipient of a Max Plank Society Visiting Fellowship.

Sen. James Inhofe calls global warming “The Greatest Hoax.†Read his insightful book to find out who is benefitting.

He has published 70 professional papers in peer-reviewed journals.

“Carbon dioxide has been made out to be some kind of toxic gas, but the truth is that it’s the gas of life. We breathe it out, plants breathe it in and it’s not caused by us,†he insisted.

“Global warming is nonsense.â€

Woodcock argues that theories of anthropogenic global warming, now morphed by radical leftist environmentalists into less well-defined theories of “climate change,†are economically motivated.

“If you talk to real scientists who have no political interest, they will tell you there is nothing in global warming. It’s an industry that creates vast amounts of money for some people,†Woodcock said.

His outspoken critique of global warming and climate change theories were published in the U.K. a day after the BBC agreed to give less airtime to climate skeptics.

With pressure exerted by Parliament’s Commons Science and Technology Committee, the government-funded network decided editors should seek special clearance to interview climate skeptics and accompany their appearances with “health warnings.â€

In his interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Woodcock did not hesitate to debunk the “science†behind global warming/climate-change alarmism.

“The term ‘climate change’ is meaningless,†Woodcock contended

“The Earth’s climate has been changing since time immemorial, that is since the Earth was formed 1,000 million years ago,†he said.

“The theory of ‘man-made climate change’ is an unsubstantiated hypothesis about our climate that says it has been adversely affected by the burning of fossil fuels in the last 100 years, causing the average temperature on the earth’s surface to increase very slightly but with disastrous environmental consequences.â€

There is no reproducible scientific evidence CO2 gas even slightly increased in the last 100 years, he argued, insisting climate change is a constant throughout geological time, with radical changes being documented over eons, long before human beings appeared on the planet.

“Events can happen with frequencies on all time scales in the physics of a chaotic system such as the weather,†he said. “Any point on lowland can flood up to a certain level on all time scales from one month to millions of years, and it’s completely unpredictable beyond around five days,†Woodcock said.

“We can go back to great floods and Noah’s Ark in the Middle East regions which are now deserts,†he said.

He explained that the reason records seem to be being frequently broken is “simply because we only started keeping them about 100 years ago.â€

“There will always be some record broken somewhere when we have another natural fluctuation in weather,†he said.

It’s “absolutely stupid to blame floods on climate change, as I read the Prime Minister did recently.â€

“I don’t blame the politicians in this case, however. I blame his so-called scientific advisors.â€

Woodcock said the global warming/climate change political lobby is imposing costs by making it increasingly expensive just to keep warm “as a consequence of the idiotic decisions our politicians have taken in recent years about the green production of electricity.â€

“The green lobby has created a do-good industry, and it becomes a way of life, like a religion,†he said. “I understand why people defend it when they have spent so long believing in it; people do not like to admit they have been wrong.â€

He said the term “global warming†does not mean anything unless it is given a time scale.

“The temperature of the earth has been going up and down for millions of years,†he said. “If there are extremes, it’s nothing to do with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere; it’s not permanent and it’s not caused by us.â€

He pointed to light bulbs to illustrate his concern that climate hysterics are imposing unnecessary costs and hazards on society.

“Light bulbs are a good example of the contradiction with the green movement. Europe has outlawed the tungsten light bulb,†he noted. “Tungsten is a harmless metal, like gold. It does not react with anything, and yet now, in the name of conserving energy, we have low-energy light bulbs full of toxic chemicals, including mercury vapor, which is poisonous.â€

He noted that if a low-energy light bulb is smashed, the advice from the Department for the Environment is to vacate the room for 15 minutes.

Off course led by the southwhich is some 1.6m above the norm whatever that really is. Whilst they over on the manamade thread continue to harp on about artic ice they have been deafening in their silence to explain the growth down under which in a world of AGW doesn't fit the agenda.

Now the cold drought etc etc that the states suffered and continue to suffer is all AGW fault and man must change his ways but wheres the science!!!!!
