Got to 2.5C at midnight last night with heavy rain, temperatures started to rise after the storm cleared.

We missed the worst of the rain here, but it was a still a horrible day and 40mm of rain in Mumbles, it could easily have been much worse those red colours of the radar were so close at times.

Here we had steady moderate/heavy rain which totals accumulated, recently the gardens have been dry, but they became waterlogged by 6pm which indicated the level of rainfall yesterday.

While there has been some flooding it could have been much much worse, if this event has happened with the sodden ground of last December, this would have been very bad.

Given the temps last night though, and the intensity of the rain, this also could have been a massive snowstorm in Carmarthenshire, if it happened in mid winter with evaporational cooling.

Radar 24 hrs accumulated rainfall, looking at this some of the north Carmarthenshire hills had over 100mm of rain in 24 hrs.

Bet you had sleet in it, I definitely did at 4c, mind the rain was very heavy!

Pretty sure the radar feature has over egged the totals/ returns due to snowflake effect in the layers the radar passes through. Not seen anything higher than Pembrey. I mean, that is showing nearer 200mm which patently did not happen, otherwise we would be hearing reports of devastating floods today!

I can just about beat Pembrey with 66mm recorded in total including last night just outside Cross Hands. Would certainly have been interesting to see it fall as snow!

Indeed it does seem a hell of a lot of rainfall.

Tomorrow CAPE is increased across most of Wales with negative lifted values which suggests that the air is unstable therefore thunderstorms should be expected!

Misty miserableness this morning. Heating back on just for an hour to warm the place up. Mean CET May to date 10.4c and anomaly gone into minus territory. What is causing this? Arctic ice melt? Thor the god of thunder? Meh!

Thunder? What's that? Not had any for so long.

There is still a bit of snow on the top of Pen y Fan in the Beacons from the other day. I think the radar was a bit inaccurate because it seemed to be understating the intensity of the rain here, radar accumulations were about 20mm while I measured 32mm.

Hoping for some storms today, the skies have that stormy look to them but it feels darn chilly.

Some rain moving from the East tomorrow across the North while the South should stay dry, however another area of rain could affect the south on Sunday.
