Last night I went round what passes for the veg garden and battened down every hatch I could see,, fleeced the peas and beans and greenhoused tender seedlings who had been let out for the day, because I had seen/heard weather forecasts for v low temps and rain. This morning, Mr Blue Sky is out along with beautiful sun, temps never dropped below 6c. Forecast for bad weather shifted south now. Should beeb presenters have their own Bafta award? Or maybe just tone it down a bit?

There was hail here in Cardiff at around 12am..and rain this morning.

A right washout here today, rain all day and heavy now and feeling very chilly, just 6.2c at the moment. Heavy rain to continue into the early hours away from the NW.

Some snow later over the Beacons perhaps.

Regarding hail this can be feature of summer thunderstorms and has occurred on days over 30c so we do not need cold air for hail.

Well it stayed dry til dogwalk time 13:00 and pretty much stayed rainy since. Will be woodburner on tonight! looking at that radar just think, 2 months ago it would have been snow, oh, wait....

Netweather radar shows up to 60mm of rain over the past 12 hours over parts of Pembrokshire/Camarthenshire with more to come, could be some flooding I think? Most over that in the past 6 hours.

Rain may turn to sleet or snow on Tuesday night across the south east, the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.

Looking at the radar, some areas around Carmarthen must have seen >100mm of rain by now.

80mm - 90mm in some places in the SW now with plenty more to come, got to be some flooding there.

What data are you using for this?

Netweather radar, some places have had around 100mm in just 6 hours and still looks torrential there.

Last 6 hours

Most I can see is 55mm from an unofficial Wunderground station in Llanelli, I should be around 60mm according to the radar accumulator but am on 33mm, could be the massive raindrops and snow (above about 400m) that is tricking the radar returns. Still a very wet one!

Hard to believe it is sleeting at low levels in mid May!
