Fantasic display of Daffs around due to the cold weather and the lack of pollinating insects around.I cannot see any signs of spring around in the model output ,could well break a few records for April CET .

Morning Guys and Gals. Just a quick question. We are having extremely cold nights but there seems to be no moisture, no ice on windscreens etc....... Are we likely to get any? Its been ages now since we had any night moisture. Its like the desert, dry as a bone.

Why due to lack of insects are daffs fantastic?

With less insects around less pollinating ,so flowers last longer.

Mostly due to the very low dewpoints.

Looking quickly ahead for much of next week, looking cold overnight, bright'/sunny by day, so a lack of hoar frost set to continue.

By the way a reminder to enter the April CET comp, all of March entries were way out.

It's hard to give any sense of perspective as to how deep the snow was, but the fence posts in the first picture are 1 metre so you can see that those drifts are 90cm+.

I would imagine most the snow is still there.

Still the odd patch of snow persisting down here, temp was -4.9c last night almost exactly the same as the nigh before. The 68th frost of the autumn-winter-spring period, would expect a few more yet, might get to 80.

That's a lot of snow. The 2-3 inches on the mountains we had here has mostly melted now but looking at the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains they look very thick with snow, it seems the main snowline starts around 600-700m up there, might be big amounts above but not been up there so only guessing.

They have that solid white look though so must be pretty deep.

Hard to know from 8days out however I would guess, chilly with sunny intervals and showers (rain).

Snow laying right down to a couple of hundred metres asl. Incredible to think most of it fell 9/10 days ago!

So what happened to the forecasted 8C? It's barely got above 3C all day!

Some signs in the models now of an end to this winter-spring. Wouldn't be surprised after this prolonged fairly dry, cold easterly dominated period to have a sustained period of wet Atlantic weather. We seem to switch from one spell of prolonged extreme to the other these days.

Similar here, very cold in the wind and some flurries about even.

Yes surprisingly cold and raw today. The cloud and wind keeping the temperature suppressed. Max 4.4c here very low for April.

Just came back from beautiful. mid-Wales, and what a stunning place this is..Clearwen Dam yesterday with huge iceicles and amazing snow cover sparkling in the sunshine ,the majestic Elan Valley was also so stunning, in the snow, huge snowfall either side of the road [10-15ft] from the drifting and snowplough above Craig-Goch dam on the road down to Rhayader. Ive been to this stunning area many times before and to see this snowfall for the first time and not too mention at this time of year and the time the snow has been lying is really and trully incredible! Certainly will go down in the history books.......Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
