Massive hailstorm here in Altrincham leaving a few CM of hail. Thunder was impressive as well. Not seen anything like it. Gone dark again now.

just heard thunder here too I also just had a hail shower, even though it doesn't show it in my location: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/lightning/en/euro/UK.htm

The sun is setting now and the hail is still lying on the ground, it means its going to be a very cold night tonight. Posted Image

 

Maybe some black ice on the roads, especially on high ground. At least it is better than the usual damp squid we had in the past couple of weeks. I would call this the first real cold snap.

Yep just had that heavy hail shower here in Leyland that xovered the roads and grass and also the clap of thunder too.

Same here in glossop.....still cover on the ground an hour and a half after it stopped..... Very wintry looking....very pretty....Temp was 6c before and went down to 1c upto 3c now.....brrrr...... Edited by WillinGlossop

Unbelievable crack of thunder just - the lightning lit up the whole room despite having my light on!!!!!!

J17 that's Sandbach junction. Not far from here but may aswell be when I'm missing this stuff by such fine margins.

Yes, we miss it completely when the PPN takes the track that it has today, but then have it full on if there is that North Westerly flow.

thats why places like Stockport are very snowy, they can have snow of, SW'ly, WSW'ly, W'ly, WNW'ly, NW'ly and probably even NNW'ly, where as my location can only get snow of a NNW'ly, through cheshire Gap

Needs to be a straight NW'ly here. Though seen it plenty of times where a straight NW'ly has pushed the showers to the S of Manchester with Manchester itself missing out.

2c damp outside..... Was really beautiful today....bright sunshine, blue skies.... Cold though max of 4c at 2pm.... Great roast and great birthday.... Looking forward to winter up here after yesterdays hail/ winterwonderland....
