Not moaning at all....even if it's the moan thread! But..........how long do you think this can go on for, before it becomes an issue rainfall wise? I work in Somerset, which had some bad flooding last year. At the moment, it just seems to be sunshine from dawn til dusk every day. Looks like that is set to continue for a good while yet at least. I wonder how long before the drought word crops up on the news??

Oh and could you all put water out for the birds, hedgehogs etc etc!!! Thanks.

think i was lucky, my area got alot of rain in june, only areas under trees and path edges are showing any sign of drought stress, grass is lush and long.

at least if this weather continues, and that looks likely, itll boost butterfly numbers which have crashed in recent years.

As yet another morning dawns with the Eye of Sauron's dessicating gaze beaming down upon us I just want it all to go away.

Oh how I long for the cloud, mist and rain of November as I scan the models in detail three times a day trying to find signs of the accursed Azores high breaking down/moving away, all to no avail.

Feel my pain, as I will attempt to feel yours when, hopefully, the jet stream moves south and an endless stream of depressions bathes our shores in cooling cloud and rain.

I would say there is a reasonable chance of an east/west split setting up at the end of next week with low cloud and cooler temperatures affecting the eastern half of the UK with the west still basking on very warm conditions with plenty of sunshine. But from today until next Wednesday it is looking better for those in the east with less cloud and some very warm temperatures early on next week as winds temporarily swing round to a westerly direction.

well we finally have some sun here clouds breaking up now quite quickly the wind direction makes all the difference feels like were finally joining the party :)

They have gone very quiet, I can never understand why some people always want to pour scorn on those of us who have waited patiently for seven years for this, the weather this summer has been great so far with power to add as the current charts are very warm and settled, i'm loving it, as everyone should!Posted Image

Come on Frosty, you should know better than this... the smiley really does not make a difference. There is nothing to say everyone has to love this type of weather, just as there is nothing to say everyone should love cold, snowy winters.  Admittedly the majority of the populus do and within this group of weather fans on here that becomes the vast majority, but let's allow those who don't like one or both the right to say so without feeling vilified or guilty... especially those with health issues. This forum is supposed to be about model dscussion, not personal preference...oddly enough!

You know as well as I do that some on here love to rub our noses in it just to provoke a reaction, most on here love fine and warm weather and wish we could have more of it, there is only a small core of fine weather haters who have finally been put back in their box!

Don't dispute it, but my point is your post above really belongs in the moaning and banter thread, not the model discussion.

Well that is where they are now, perhaps you can keep the views about your preferences in here from now on, as the rest of us do. Agree the models do look great and 30c is a genuine possibily for here tomorrow, somewhere close by may even squeek a 32c, but in all fairness I'd say that is probably to hot for 7 or 8 out of 10 folk....not me thoPosted Image

Physical activity uncomfortable, sleeping unpleasant, sunburn, thirsty, hay fever, midges, wasps, spiders, mosquitoes, dried up streams and ponds, having to water garden, vegetation turning brown. Why is this weather so wonderful?? Posted Image

I'm going to be desperate for icy November gales and torrential rain by the end of this spell.

No they don't, every time a poor spell of weather is shown in the models the usual trolls are all over the model thread saying they want colder cloudy crud etc.

For the benefit of those of us who don't understand CH, can you explain why those who want colder, cloudy crud (as you describe it) are trolls?

Surely they are entitled to want what they like, are they not, or are you suggesting that those who don't want summer heat and/or winter cold should not post at all in the MDT?

youve had 6 summers like that, is it too much to ask you  to be pleased for us now its our turn to get our rare weather type? :)

cooling off, drinking, lounging about in the sun or shade, wearing very little, the comfort of warm air on your body, the sounds of swifts and martens whizzing through the sky, flowers, the scent of blossoms, sitting outside to eat/socialise, etc etc etc.... besides half of what you list as 'bad' things about hot summers also apply to cooler wet ones!

I'm sorry, I don't post on here often but I have to reply to this. Mushy, I've lost count of how many negative comments, snipes and digs I've read from you during the latter part of the Winter and early Spring directed at those who enjoyed the colder and wetter types of weather and none of them sounded like you were pleased for those people who were enjoying it. So could you please stop this pot kettle black nonsense.

I've only been browsing this forum until recently but I have to agree that certain members have a very hypocritical attitude - enjoying lecturing people about the negatives of cold, snowy winters, cool wet summers, but don't like it when people dare mention the negatives of warm, dry summers - and there are negatives, as much as I enjoy the warmth. All weather types have good points and bad points - some of the bad points of warm, sunny weather have manifested already, such as idiot boy racers and lots of litter in parks. People go crazy during this weather, some just don't know how to behave and end up making life uncomfortable for the rest of us by acting like such idiots.

Basically, we are hopeless at dealing with adverse weather, even if the deviation from the average is only slight - too wet, dry, cold, hot - we can't keep on complaining about the weather every time it isn't exactly average, the weather has to deviate occasionally - we need to deal with it better. Going from severe floods to drought and vice versa in less than a year (a happened from 2011 to 2012) is really pathetic and should not happen.

im trying to think of a counter argument to this....

apart from the fact that the last 6 winters have provided cold/snow lovers what they want, we warmth lovers on the other hand have had to wait 7 summers...

however its a fair comment Posted Image

I'll put this in here as it has nothing to do with model output but may prove interesting for those interested in the medium to long term. This from Ian Fergusson;

"Little or no rainfall expected nxt week; v warm or hot. Strengthened signal now in EC, MOGREPS & NCEP for change eventually in 10-15d period"

It will change soon enough, only has to be wrong in the early stages and the rest is wrong. At least the cloud and cool breeze has gone, we have had no heatwave here, despite what some think. Days getting shorter gathering pace now, soon be looking forward to autumn days...

Bah yet again the North sea is throwing it's low cloud rubbish at us. Even a SSE wind bring it in. Unbelievable. Sunny day forecast. Nope just disappointment for the scores of people at the beach.
