the most scenic train route in the country is Stocksfield to Carlisle dont ya know.never done it with the snow down so Friday looks the best chance yet.

Well those showers out at sea are making very slow progress. Will they reach us?......

With regards to your post in the old thread Gavin, there is definitely no high ground in Stockton, in fact the River Tees runs straight through it. If they have a snow warning for Stockton, there's no reason why the snow shouldn't reach Middlesbrough as we are both literally neighbours.

I still can't see us getting much. N Mids/NW will get it. We'll get dribs and drabs at most. A day for turning off the TV if you don't want to watch others get buried while we are dry.

Latest bbc has it stalling 200 miles south of here on friday and nothing but light snow this far north but plenty of time for it to come closer to us

I would be more worried about the snow not reaching here if it was currently forecast. At least we won't be disappointed if it does not and will be happy if it does....the positioning of such events are impossible to get right this far out. Edited by Freezing-Point

Even Cumbria looks dodgy on the NAE. I will look nervously in the morning!

I have not seen many forecasts for today but I did recall yesterdays forecasts for Friday had the snow graphic mixed in with the rain graphic so suggesting sleet was on the cards, today forecasts from what I seen suggests the PPN may not reach the NE until late in the day but looking at the models, the cold uppers have been upgraded somewhat although still looks marginal.

Despite what the model thread is telling you, I think our region will be the Northern limit of the PPN, the questions are, how much PPN will there be and will it be cold enough for snow considering the wind will be off the North Sea.

I don't see marginality being a problem really from looking at the projected dew points etc. The uppers aren't very low but that isn't important in a frontal setup as long as everything else falls into place.

It's just precipitation amounts which could be a problem imo.

Cumbria looks non marginal to me, snow all the way. Fingers crossed anyway, there is a risk that the precipitation won't actually get that far north.

Only slightly. Cumbria looks like getting absolutely pasted by the end of tomorrow and into Saturday, whereas the NE is looking a bit iffy for precipitation amounts still. Definitely a case of radar watching tomorrow.

A light sprinkling of snow here this morning.
