UK Outlook for Friday 19 Oct 2018 to Friday 2 Nov 2018:

The beginning of this period is likely to be fairly unsettled with wet and windy weather affecting many areas, especially so across the west and northwest. However, there is an increasing chance that many could turn more settled towards the end of October as high pressure re-establishes. This will bring lighter winds, with some sunshine by day but some cold nights with frost and fog. As we head towards the start of November, confidence is very low but there are signs it may turn more unsettled again. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, but in more settled weather it is likely to be colder than average, especially overnight.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 Oct 2018 to Friday 19 Oct 2018:

Initially, we will continue to see a northwest/southeast split in our weather. Northern and western areas will generally be unsettled, with outbreaks of rain as well as strong to gale force winds. Rain will be heavy at times and there is also the potential for some stormy conditions to develop. Meanwhile, southern and eastern areas should be drier, with lighter winds and some sunshine, although there may be some morning mist and fog patches. From time to time a little rain may also push into central, eastern and southern parts too, but this is more likely as we head towards the middle of October, when many areas may become more changeable. Throughout this period, temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly warmer than normal, especially in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 11 Oct 2018 to Saturday 20 Oct 2018:

On Thursday sunshine and warm southerly winds will continue across England and Wales though these may be accompanied by heavy showers in the south. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be rather windy and rain may move in from the west later. The northwest of the UK will probably stay mostly wet and windy into the weekend, with gales likely on some coasts and hills. Meanwhile, southern and eastern areas are likely to stay dry and warm with lighter winds and some sunshine, although there may be morning mist and fog patches. The following week could well be similar, with northern and western parts having wet and windy spells interspersed with occasional drier periods. Meanwhile, drier and brighter weather is likely to dominate in the southeast, though probably with cooler temperatures.

UK Outlook for Friday 12 Oct 2018 to Sunday 21 Oct 2018:

Friday is likely to be wet and windy across much of the UK, particularly in the west, where coastal severe gales are possible. The northwest of the UK will probably stay mostly wet and windy into the weekend, with gales likely on some coasts and hills. However, southern and eastern areas are likely to become less windy, though further rain is likely here. In these areas, it will probably stay warmer than average. Next week could well be similar, with northern and western parts having wet and windy spells interspersed with occasional drier periods. Meanwhile, drier and brighter weather is likely to dominate in the southeast, though probably with cooler temperatures, perhaps cool enough at night for some frost to form.

UK Outlook for Sunday 14 Oct 2018 to Tuesday 23 Oct 2018:

On Sunday cloud and rain across many areas at first should clear slowly eastwards, but with showers following into parts of the north and west where it could be windy. On Monday while many parts will be dry and bright, further cloud and rain may arrive in the north and west, with a risk of strong winds and gales developing, especially in the northwest. Temperatures warm in southeast at first, otherwise close to average. The rest of the period is likely to be similar, with northern and western parts having wet and windy spells interspersed with occasional drier periods. The southeast will be driest and brightest, but with some rain possible here too at times. Temperatures probably near average overall, and occasionally cool enough overnight for some frosts and fog.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 24 Oct 2018 to Wednesday 7 Nov 2018:

Although the generally unsettled conditions are likely to continue through this period, predominantly in the north and west, there remains a chance of some more settled, drier and brighter conditions developing at times, especially across the south and southeast. This would bring periods of lighter winds and some sunshine by day, but also some cold nights with local frost and fog developing under any clear skies. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, but it is likely to be colder than average at times, bringing an increased risk of overnight frost and fog.

UK Outlook for Monday 15 Oct 2018 to Wednesday 24 Oct 2018:

Monday will begin dry for most, with early morning mist and fog clearing to give spells of sunshine, although northern and western areas will be breezier with showers. Many areas will then become more unsettled through the middle of October with spells of rain, interspersed with some brighter and showery periods. The heaviest and most persistent rain is likely to be across the north and west, where gales are likely at times. The driest and brightest conditions are most likely to be across eastern and southeastern parts, although some wet and windy spells are likely here too. Colder than of late, with temperatures likely to be close to normal for many, occasionally cold enough for some overnight frost.

UK Outlook for Thursday 25 Oct 2018 to Thursday 8 Nov 2018:

Through the latter part of October and into November the predominantly unsettled weather is likely to continue, with weather systems becoming slow-moving at times. Western and northwestern areas are likely to see the wettest and windiest conditions, with the south and east often drier and brighter, although still with some rain at times too. There is a chance that generally more settled and drier weather may develop at times through the turn of the month, especially so across the south. This would bring a greater risk of frost and fog overnight. On the whole temperatures are likely to vary around normal or slightly below.

Strong winds and rain move east across all parts through Tuesday, followed by brighter, showery weather later. There's a risk of gales almost anywhere, and possibly severe gales for a time in the northwest. On Wednesday the winds and showers should slowly ease from the west. Through the rest of the period an unsettled weather pattern prevails, with periods of wet and windy weather interspersed with some brighter and showery spells. The heaviest rain is likely to be in the north and west, where there's a risk of severe gales. Drier and brighter in the southeast, although some wet and windy spells are likely here too. Temperatures close to or a little below normal, and occasionally cold enough for some overnight frost.

The Met Office's wet in the north and colder than average temperatures at the end of October might be why Meteo have a fair amount of UK snow on the 27th/28th. No doubt we'll get loads of cold rain!

Dry and fine start for many on Thursday with early mist and local patches of fog for southwestern parts of the UK. The heaviest rain is likely in the north and west, where there's a risk of gales. Drier, brighter in the southeast, although some wet and windy spells likely here too. The above suggests heights will probably migrate to the west, as shown by quite a few model runs recently, allowing the trough to anchor down from the NW and a propensity for polar maritime are to invade more so than tropical maritime air, cyclonic conditions at times as well - we suggests heights could be pulled markedly far to the west, so every chance of northerly shot.

UK Outlook for Friday 19 Oct 2018 to Sunday 28 Oct 2018:

Friday should start with a fine spell of weather with sunny spells, once early mist and fog across southern and central parts has cleared. Cloud and a weakening band of rain in the northwest will make progress southeastwards on Friday, reaching most parts of the country by day's end. Strong winds and showers should follow in the far northwest for a time. From next weekend onwards it will be changeable with periods of wet and windy weather interspersed with brighter and showery spells. The heaviest rain is likely in the north and west, where there's a risk of gales. Drier, brighter in the southeast, although some wet and windy spells likely here too. Temperatures varying around average, but becoming rather cold later with an increasing risk of overnight frosts.
