UK Outlook for Saturday 4 May 2013 to Monday 13 May 2013:

Becoming less unsettled as the weekend progresses as drier, brighter weather spreads in behind patchy rain moving southeast. At the same time, thicker cloud and some rain may spread into the far northwest. Temperatures near normal, though overnight ground frosts are still likely. Thereafter, probably becoming more settled with an increasing likelihood that drier and brighter conditions will prevail across most parts. However, there is a low risk of some showers in the far southeast by mid-week, and also some rain affecting northwestern parts at times, particularly later in the period. Temperatures should gradually rise through the week to near or just above average, perhaps becoming warm across inland parts, although some patchy frost remains likely. However, it will be rather chilly along eastern coastal districts with easterly winds probable.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 14 May 2013 to Tuesday 28 May 2013:

Probably a good deal of dry and bright weather overall, but some unsettled spells perhaps later in the month. Winds will often be from the northeast and given that the North Sea is expected to be colder than normal for May, this will leave eastern coasts colder than average. Away from coasts, daytime temperatures will most likely be around average, but perhaps a little above in any prolonged spells of sunshine.

UK Outlook for Sunday 5 May 2013 to Tuesday 14 May 2013:

A lot of dry weather is likely across the UK at first but thicker cloud and some rain may spread into the far northwest, along with a few showers for a time in southern England. Temperatures should recover from near normal towards rather warm, and it will feel pleasantly warm in any sunshine inland. However, with lower than average North Sea surface temperatures, eastern coastal regions may feel somewhat cooler. Towards the end of next week, temperatures should rise further and become warm across many inland areas under strong spring sunshine. Thereafter, there is an increased risk of rain or showers, more especially in northeastern parts of the UK. There are also indications of a possible decline in temperature levels with the possibility of patchy ground frost returning at night.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 8 May 2013 to Friday 17 May 2013:

A rather unsettled start, as one or more frontal systems cross the UK from the west on Wednesday, giving locally heavy rain in the north and west, but probably small amounts further southeast. This will be followed by brighter, showery conditions on Thursday. Temperatures generally near average. Later next week and into the following weekend, a good amount of fine and dry weather for England and Wales, but more unsettled towards the north of the UK, though with the possibility of more unsettled conditions developing across all areas. Temperatures mainly near normal, possibly warm at times in the east and south. Thereafter, a large amount of uncertainty, but there are indications that conditions may turn a little cooler across the country.

UK Outlook for Monday 13 May 2013 to Wednesday 22 May 2013:

During Monday, cloud and rain is most likely to affect northwestern parts of the UK, with drier conditions in the south before this rain moves southeastwards by Tuesday, replaced by brighter, showery conditions behind. Temperatures at this time are likely to be around average in the east, and rather cool in the west. During the rest of next week, generally unsettled and rather cool conditions will continue with a mix of cloud, locally heavy rain, but also with sunnier interludes. However, there is a signal that easterly or southeasterly winds may develop. This could bring higher temperatures, along with drier and brighter conditions in the northern areas, but cool towards the east coast. Often unsettled and cooler than average conditions may prevail thereafter, with significant uncertainty at this stage.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 14 May 2013 to Thursday 23 May 2013:

Next week, generally unsettled and rather cool conditions will continue with a mix of cloud, locally heavy rain in places, but also some sunnier interludes. Most of the unsettled weather looks to be in the northwest of the UK, where showers may contain hail and thunder, with perhaps a little wintriness over the Highlands. The best of the drier, brighter weather should be in the east. Temperatures will generally be a little below normal, feeling cool in rain or showers. There is also a signal, with some uncertainty at this stage, that it will become increasingly unsettled in the south later next week and into the following week, with the risk of thundery rain moving up from the continent, whilst drier and brighter conditions develop in more northern areas.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 15 May 2013 to Friday 24 May 2013:

The generally showery and rather cool conditions are expected to continue, with the heaviest and most frequent showers in the north and west of the UK at first, where patchy overnight frost is possible. The best of the dry weather should be across the south and east of Britain although there is a risk of more prolonged rain in the far south-east initially. Towards the end of the week, showers show signs of spreading into central and southern areas with some heavy and thundery downpours possible at times. Into the following week, conditions still look unsettled but with a trend for the heaviest and most frequent spells of rain more likely in north-western parts of the country. Temperatures may also start to recover to nearer normal across southern Britain.

By the end of the week, the east and southeast could see some prolonged, heavy and perhaps thundery rain, whilst the best of the brighter and drier spells will be in the north and west. From the weekend onwards, continuing unsettled in all areas with further showers or longer spells of rain but with some drier and brighter spells. Temperatures are likely to be near average or rather cool, with a risk of ground frost in northern rural areas. There are signs of a gradual improvement later in the period, especially in the south, where temperatures are expected to recover.
