UK Outlook for Sunday 17 Mar 2013 to Tuesday 26 Mar 2013:

This weekend and next week conditions are set to remain unsettled and on the cold side for March. Many southern areas will be cloudy with rain and perhaps some hill snow. Other areas will see brighter weather with wintry showers, mainly in the north. Next week, often rather cloudy with further spells of rain or snow. Some heavy rain is likely at times, whilst northern, eastern and central parts have the greatest chance of any snow, leading to accumulations in places. Temperatures will remain below average; the nights frequently cold and frosty with icy patches, feeling cold by day, especially over northern Britain where it will often be windy. Looking beyond next week, conditions are expected to remain unsettled with below average temperatures.

UK Outlook for Monday 18 Mar 2013 to Wednesday 27 Mar 2013:

Unsettled conditions look set to continue with it becoming cold or even very cold for March. Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow in most places, although turning more showery at times allowing spells of brightness, especially in the west. Sleet and snow is most likely in the north and east, with the risk of some significant accumulations here. Later in the week, rain and strong winds may spread north, bringing less cold conditions in the south but perhaps more snow in the north. Overall, temperatures will remain well below average; the nights cold and frosty with icy patches. Over northern Britain it will sometimes be windy, accentuating the cold. Conditions are expected to remain rather cold and unsettled into the following week with a continuing risk of snow in places.

The met office are now on board for a warm up of sorts

UK Outlook for Tuesday 19 Mar 2013 to Thursday 28 Mar 2013:

Remaining unsettled and cold at first with further outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow but with some bright spells. The snow is most likely in the north and east, with the risk of some accumulations here. Widespread overnight frosts are also likely. Later next week, milder conditions will probably spread northwards across most parts bringing some wet and possibly very windy conditions at times. However the milder weather will be slow to reach northern parts with the northeast likely to remain cold with a continuing risk of snow. The rest of the period is then likely to remain unsettled but with temperatures probably recovering to near normal for the end of March and any snow risk becoming confined to the far northeast.

Yeah those in the south are likely to see rain next week of course snow in April isn't out the question but it becomes a lot marginal especially for those in the midlands southwards

We cannot rule out a April 5th 1989 or April 6th 2008 event. However, events like these are not very common in the south. Very disappointing that I missed out on Monday and Tuesday's snow event. I was so close yet so far, but that's always the way with snowfall!

Met office outlook just cant be trusted. What's the point of it! Seriously. It changes with the wind. Why does anyone pay attention to it.

Not much chance of a April 5th 1989 or 6th April 2008 event from this update.

15 to 30 day range changes frequently so any thing could happen don't rule out an above average CET month likewise we can't rule out another below average month. It only needs the northern blocking to go and its game on again for warmer weather

UK Outlook for Thursday 21 Mar 2013 to Saturday 30 Mar 2013:

Many areas fine on Thursday, though a few snow showers possible to the northeast. Turning much more unsettled towards the southwest later Thursday, with cloudy, wet and windy conditions then spreading slowly northeastwards on Friday into central parts of the UK, whilst turning increasingly to snow. These conditions continue northwards through the weekend, risk then of significant snow over central and northern areas, though the far northeast may remain brighter, with just occasional snow showers. Generally cold with overnight frost, though temperatures perhaps returning nearer normal in the south. After next weekend, the rest of March is likely to remain unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, heaviest towards the southwest. Temperatures then also nearer normal to the southwest but below average for many other areas, especially the northeast.
