Tuesday is looking cloudy but dry, Wednesday looks the only chance this week its looking like the January 25th event if it comes off only the melt will set it quicker

There might still be some surprise snow on Monday night from the onshore flow.

I'm glad I took heed of the met office's early yellow warning.

Tinned food for three months. 18 loaves of bred, snow tyres bought and 3000kg of grit. Now time to hunker down for the night and watch the snowfall

yep maybe some surprise snowfalls before the next frontal event on Wednesday. The Met Office extended outlook looks quite interesting though

yeah looks like cool/mildish air for a few days with high pressure moving in then the coldish air moves bk in and some models are suggesting the cold will stay till march, again i take that with a pinch of salt anything in fi

The cold air should be undercutting soon, hopefully we can get some precipitation when it does.

It's obviously not as clear cut as that, we still have residual warmth today from yesterday, whereas by Wednesday the cold will be much more entrenched.

Gavin - Uppers aren't the be all end all. uppers of -2 or -3°C can be enough in frontal situations.

snow line seems to have been sat at 1000' for most of the afternoon, Tow Law and the A68 have a covering but its marginal even there. Id think the higher pennines are doing quite well however.
