A dry, mild and windy night has reduced the snow cover to around 30%, although my back garden and a few others nearby are still about 95% covered with 8cm of thawing snow.

Currently dry with bright intervals and increasing high cloud.

Soon turning overcast, feeling cool for a time in the fresh to strong SE wind. The afternoon continued windy and overcast, though turning milder with the temperature reaching 9.2c around 17:00 GMT. Light rain commenced around the same time.

A cloudy and very mild day, the warmest in January since 2008. Most of the day was dry with just a few short outbreaks of light rain or drizzle from 1030 onward. A rapid thaw of lying snow during the afternoon.

We are on the brink of the warmest day of the year here currently at 12.3°C, 12.6°C is the warmest so far not quite 4 hours left for a 0.4c rise
