I thought the snow to rain event was going to be a north of the M4 affair, still not holding out a lot of hope for the south east corner

Seems to be the MO view as well?

This may well become a marginal and nowcast event for the SE tmoz evening. Cold block wanting told hold out a bit longer and front may decay and stall.

From all rain last night to a snow to rain event this morning, things may well upgrade so i'm sitting on the fence until the 12z NMM and NAE comes out later this pm

Hammond live broadcast just now BBC news channel

"There is a substantial threat of disruptive snowfall across many parts of Scotland and England tomorrow night"

"Warnings will be issued and they will be updated in due course"

Snow graphics for the whole of this region! Looks increasingly likely we will end this cold spell with a significant accumulation before the big thaw.....

Awesome, yet there are still members that think it won't happen and will be sleet at best!

The Beeb usually handle these type of events really well, so I know which one i will choose to believe!

Response of metoffice on twitter: Dry for most of the day tmr and then some possibility of rain, sleet or snow...I would add some clouds, stars and sky as well! Lets wait and see cause from their response, they dont seem to be certain on the outcome..

Blink and you will miss it affair, anyone who wants to see heavy snow will have to lamppost watch overnight as it will be gone the next morning, would rather see 4" fall that sticks around for a few days than 8" that is gone the next morning

Can't see where this Thames streamer is going to come from, certainly not for the midday forecast by the NAE

Channel, North Sea and estuary look calm as millponds

Latest NMM goes for a sleet and mostly rain affair for us down in the south east, temps and dew points being the wrong side of marginal

Yet again another post having a tantrum over a snow to rain event.

It's going to get mild, whether we all like it or not, so what a better way to go out with one more snow event.

So what if its going to be washed away, that's what happens when a mild spell follows a cold spell.

I would much rather watch a few hours of snowfall followed by rain, than a boring ALL rain event!

There was never going to be a Thames streamer today. They are relatively rare events.

I think the further north and east you are in our region you are the better you'll do tomorrow night. South and west of London looks a bit of a damp squib in my opinion. Would be delighted to be proved wrong, obviously.

You'd best get on to BBC then to change their weather forecasts. as they have a risk of disruptive snow for this region tomorrow night!

There was never a streamer forecast in the first place

Re: Tomorrow night/Early Sat

I am glad I am not forecasting it that's for sure.

850's around -2c/-3c, Dew's around -1c/0c, temps around 0c/2c, thickness around 129/130.

A forecasting nightmare.

I have a BIG Feeling the BBC Are using out of date data Mate!

Expect to see a massive toning down on their Tv Broadcasts over the next 6-12 hours as from the latest data I have seen the Populous part of the SE Has a massive problem in even seeing a Snowflake tomorrow with Sleet at best, some of the latest models (NAE For Instance) are now showing quite a marked cut off line to the snow much further North over parts of the East Midlands and Northern East Anglia.

Expect the Graphics on the tv to change soon i would expect.

Best we can hope for is a brief snow to rain but all green when we wake up on Saturday morning I would imagine

Agree. Feel a few people are getting over-excited at the prospect of not very much!

Oh ok.

If that is the case I find that outrageous that the BBC can do that!

Hammond been giving live broadcasts on BBC news all morning:

"Substantial snow"

"Major disruption"

Our whole region covered in snow!

Hard to believe that will all now be replaced by rain graphics come later today!

Agree. Feel a few people are getting over-excited at the prospect of not very much!

Well when you have live TV forecasts on the news channel saying disruptive snow! What do u expect?

Of course there will be excitement
