Not much, just said 2-5cm with 10cm on the hills. Didn't go into any great detail as per usual.

Can't bring myself to watch her or the Eno "double 5" fool, flick over to Granada and who do we have, ah the very easy on the eye Jo Blythe, who cares about her forecast......now there's a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!!!!

Looking at the latest BBC graphics they now show rain near to the coast as the front moves in on Friday. So I doubt us guys in the West of the region will see 'Monster snow'. Looks like it could be more of an event for the East of the region and those on the other side of the hills.

With the sky beginning to clear overnight temps will get much lower than of late, dp's are still low and with a bit of luck we'll have some decent cold uppers still in place when the Atlantic starts to move in.

I'm hopeful of seeing some snow but maybe somewhere in the region of 2-5cm rather than 15-20cm.

I think we may get a few hrs of heavy stuff on fridaywith rain coming through on the back edge late on, then it's rain saturday/sunday to wash it all away.

Tonight looks like it could be the coldest we have had this year so far , currently down to -2.7c here with clearing skies

-1.5C here dropped 0.5 in the last 20 mins if the sky stays clear -5C shouldn't be a problem, perhaps lower with snow still on the ground :)

Tomorrow night, after about 7 nights of trying we should finally get close to some of those GFS minimas under clear skies across the snowfields with the cloud and PPN still well out West. I will go for -7 somewhere.

It needs to drop below -5.1C to beat the current minimum IMBY for this winter. Quite possible if skies stay clear.

Eno: no real specifics re Friday - just 'snow becoming widespread' with massively wide snow graphic.

Edit: always want to turn her name into a footy chant - "Eno Eno Eno....!" sorry, bored!

unless the snow arrives a tad and the cold in the east becomes more westward. a lot to ask I wouldn't expect much snow for the southwest, south or west of the region.

Once again the sheet of cloud has prevented any significant fall in temperatures, disappointing! Predictions of severe frosts and -10c aren't going to happen whilst much of the UK is shrouded in cloud, some very wide off the mark minimum temperature predictions.

Currently -0.5c here after a low of -1.1c, Would have loved having clear skies overnight during this colder period giving bone chilling overnight minimums and ice days. The odd thing about this 'cold spell' is that it hasn't actually been that cold and it certainly won't be classed as anything memorable from an IMBY perspective, perhaps February can deliver something more noteworthy.

Looking forward to some Atlantic action and wind events to push this boring cold grey weather away :)

00z NAE progging some very heavy snowfall across the region during Friday especially over the central Lake District and Pennines, looks very disruptive with blizzard conditions and drifting.

Yes, it looks very impressive!

The GFS is much less promising with some western areas seeing rain/sleet and the snow mainly for elevated areas and the east.

Skies clearing here from the east resulting in falling temps and after a rise to -0.1c it's fallen back to -0.9c.

Met Office have issued yellow warnings covering the NW region for the potential snow threat during Friday afternoon, The weather action getting going after midday onwards or thereabouts. The further inland with a bit of elevation the better.

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_warnings.html?day=2

Temp still falling here even though the suns out, -1.3c now, should be a cold day and even colder evening under the clear sky thats if it stays clear!

I think that it'll more likely be a rain or freezing rain event for those in the west & on lower ground but we'll have to wait and see.
