Welcome Landylou :)

The darker it gets here in Stirling, the heavier the snow is getting...maybe eventually one or two snowflakes will stick ...

Hi folks, been lurking in the background for a few days watching all the snow chat unfold! Cant believe the lack of snow in some places! I live in Findo Gask, 10 miles outside Perth and we've had snow all day! Drifting has started and some of them are well over 6" with an average depth of around 4"........am I right in thinking the snow is on for the night?!

welcome to the thread.

your one of the lucky ones to have settling snow and yeah it seems like it is to keep going through the night

lol all thats left is a meto red warning for scotland....which obviously would mean hee haw would happen but be good to tick the box

if that big low came piling into us we would have that red warning in an instance

Woke up to 5" of snow this morning - but unfortunately I was in Lancashire not NE Fife ;-)

Drive home was interesting but no real snow at low levels along the M74 or M 8, accumulating snow level seems to be around 200m (or was an hour or so ago).

Back in Crail it's as forecast - wet, sleety and very windy. Currently 2.3c.

Well snow has stopped for the first time all day. The snow was Just starting to lie on roads and begin to stick to windows, fences etc with the wind blowing the snow. What is expected for tonight? See the 2m temps are looking more favoourable.

Just come out of a meeting, still heavy-ish outside, and the wind-driven claggy sopping wet snaw has attached itself to most of the balcony outside. Looks like someone has plastered it with 20 gallons of wallpaper paste. Eskimo's would have to find yet another word to describe this "snaw".

But hey ... beggars can't be choosers. I'm going to walk home back across Calton Hill and see what its like up top. Too early in the day to get mugged there...and all the muggers will be keeping warm in the local Leith pubs and drug-dens anyway.

NMM suggests another heavy pulse moving northwards around 8pm this evening into central areas:

Hasn't stopped snowing all day here (A701 between Broughton and Moffat). Temp dipping now and road slowly turning white. We've around 5in which does't seem much for the amount of snow coming down. Luckier than some on here I guess...

Power off. Power on. Power off. Power on. Power off. Power......thankfully.....on. But the trend is a tad disconcerting. That said, they did some upgrade to the grid around here locally last summer so that our supply could be more reliable......and so far it seems to be a great improvement. Usually it goes off and stays off.....like January 2nd 2012 when it went off and stayed off for five days. Fingers crossed !

Had a walk along to Craigmead and up the path to East Lomond. Bonkers spindrift blowing about. Enormous drifts, but even accounting for those there's little snow actually on the ground. On some of the flatter areas it's been scoured back to the snow that fell over a week ago! God knows where it's all gone? Erm.......evaporated? Blown to pieces too small to see? Piled up on a St Kilda hillside? Who knows :)
