The sleet eventually turned to snow here overnight and we had a couple of centimetres on top of what was left from Monday/Friday.

Temperatures remained pretty marginal throughout, dropping to a low of 0.8C. Its currently 1.4C out there now but still snowing lightly.

Looks like it could still be forming off the E coast.

Makes a change for Scotland to not get all the good snow, they've had to sit and watch us for change.

Hello - lurker here.

My work is closed today, but I'd already defrosted the car so went for a drive onto the moors north of Otley.

Here's some Pics:

I'm assuming the cars are abandoned as its 1.5 miles to the nearest village.

I would not advise going up there without winter tyres mind you...

Still snowing heavily in Scarborough but not laying well as it's so wet after the sleet and rain overnight. Debating whether to try and get to uni for lectures at York this morning. Any reports on what it's like on the A64 or at York?

It would appear from everyone's comments that it's been the Leeds into Sheffield zone (Barnsley, Rotherham, West Yorks) in general that has done well from this.

Some posters from Sheffield suggesting not much which is surprising. I'm in the north of the city where we've boot a deep cover of about 8 inches.

Maybe 6cm overnight. I have called-off my trip to Worcester on account of the traffic news: M62, M18 and M5 down to one or two lanes in places. Still snowing quite heavily at the moment.

Anyway for the record, the temp is +0.4°C with a DP of -0.5°C. it got down to -0.2°C at 3:15 this morning.

Not checked the radar yet but will do that now before logging-in to work.

Just gutted my youngest daughters school is open but the eldest school is closed to which she replied I'm going back to bed!!!

And it's still snowing

We have had about 15 cm's of new snow here. Quite shocking as wasn't expecting much at all, as I thought we would be to far west, but nope we have got hit hard; and its not over yet!

Second band is just starting to make its presence known, going to be an interesting total at the end of this.

An in between event here. Snow all the way, but very wet until late in the night. The effect of this was to increase the thaw, but eventually cooled sufficiently to allow some build up, 5cm or so added now. Difficult to tell the overall depth, but probably back to what we had before the thaw started. Still snowing, but the wind has eased a bit, but fair bit of drifting on top of the Wolds I would imagine, even a bit here down in the valley.
