I woke up at 5am, looked out of the window and the snow was belting down. By the time I got up to ge tthe kids to school we had a fresh new convering, very wet and trning to slush in an instant though. Then just after 9am we had some huge flakes coming down and tiny ice pellets. It stopped by about 10.30am and has thawed very quickly. Seeing the odd flake trying to fall from the sky at the moment, but all quiet with lots of slush, puddles and wet pavements. It's going to take some heavy snow to settle on top of that. Even the roofs are thawing now and they've been white since Friday.

Big thaw here today, though still snow lying on grassy areas. There was a cm or two extra overnight but now barely noticeable. Clouds looking very ominous to the south and the wind is picking up, are we about to enter round 2? :)

I'm in Grangetown, low sea level and it seems to melt away so quickly. Too quickly! it looked lovely this morning until the cars came and turned it all to grey slush. I've got my fingers crossed for another good pelting this evening. :)

Just started to snow here.

Gutted about how much the snow has thawed today but hopefully we can get it all back and more this evening:_)

Round 2? Can you please arrange for some power to be put into Mynydd Gorddu wind farm at Bontgoch to blow some towards Machynlleth?

Some reports of snow in Bristol now, radar loop shows a N-NW movement, could be a direct hit for S/SE Wales. NAE shows heaviest snow at midnight-6am so it looks like this PPN could be quite slow.

12z NAE is out and a slight change. Snow for Pembrokeshire this evening before this clears away (not sure about this). Snow for south east wales, strong signal for this on midnight chart. More fun and game for you down south east, cant you send this west this time sad.png

One of the main problems of this cold spell has been the presistence of cloud and systems, which sounds silly in itself, but with the lack of true meaningful clear nights allowing temperatures to fall such as 2010 when we got down to -19 here which firmly embedded the surface temperature and kept snow crisp and powedry for a good fortnight, had our nights had been clearer over the weekend then we would have been looking at a similar situation.

Doesnt look that interesting for Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea this evening unless some more convection fires up over the B Channel.

You're probably right, but I'm not sure the professionals have entirely got a handle on this one...
