Anyone tried using their garden blower for shifting snow? Mine worked well. Would be more difficult if snow very wet.

What is the snow risk map purporting to show. Has a scale on right hand side mm presumably. Is it the expected fall for that time slot (seems most unlikely) per hour, per day or what?

Quick update.

Snow potential remains for tomorrow and then we could see more between Mon/Tues. However at this stage the snow on Mon could be more marginal and those in Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk could actually see rain followed by a thaw of lying snow as dewpoints rise to around 3C. The best chance of snow on Mon/Tues is for those in the extreme W/SW of this region. This of course is subject to change.

He added that the exceptionally deep snow in the normally warmer south east has been caused by the effects of a geographical feature known as the "Thames Streamer" where winds "gang up together".

"Because of the shape of the Thames Estuary you get what we call a convergence line meaning that the winds tend to converge along a line - that is why there have been such massive snowfall totals turning up across south London and Surrey."

Literally, a stream of snow showers that line up with the wind, giving some places buckets, whilst those just a few miles' either side get sod all...That'll be me, then!good.gif

Slightly disappointed by this event so far... For us on the east coast I thought this undercutting senario was going to be great but as it stands the temps are just too marginal for us in this sort of set up.... Give me a scandi high north easterly set up anytime.. Our 4 inches from a lucky shower Thursday night has thawed quite a bit over night. We didn't see anything from the front yesterday and the snow tomorrow looks like its gonna be washed away come Monday morning... Great!!
