I'm fascinated by how snow is back on 10-15 minutes ago in some parts of embra but not here! Shows how peculiarly Embra is laid out ,with regard to its seven hills, I suspect?

Looks like the snaw is going to deliver for most kilters over time this evening. Good stuff. good.gif

Going by this evening's ECM, doesn't look like the cold is going anywhere, either.

A random piece of meteorological porn chart to illustrate that it's here, it's here to stay and the Atlantic has been told to 'awa' an' bile yer heid'.

Huge risk for the east coast of things going a bit sleety but if it comes off it would be massive. Up to then looks very good too though, and after as well.

Do u mean right on the coast as most factors seem ok inland here?

Heavy again here after 10 mins off... Everything beautifully silent...about to go to shops pretending I need something :)

That whole ECM run is amazing, right out to 240

Well it's hard to look at specifics at this stage, depends on what model you look at, all have uppers below -6C for the vast majority of the time so I'd imagine your location would probably be fine but that February 2010 event still haunts me so I always urge caution when it comes to fronts getting that far north with an easterly flow.

So LS are you suggesting a potential sleet event on Monday? What are the odds on snow for us coasties?

I think you're probably far enough north for it to be snow, although it might still move about a bit, as long as the -8C line is over or to the south of you I wouldn't imagine there'd be any trouble at all but -6C and lower could cause issues at the coast.

SNOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!! YEEEEEEHAAAAA! ....OK, I lied. Snow for some....or should I say most in Kiltland....but once again, none for Skye. We did encounter a few flakes as we approached Inversneck this afternoon, but it came to nothing. Cloud was building up nicely as we drove through Cluanie, but it's clear skies for Skye! I'm tired of TOORPing and Tantruming, just have to accept that we ain't gauny get nae snaw!

Snowing again in Morningside, very heavy here now.

Yeah, real topographical quirks in evidence tonight!

Steady snow now, relatively small flakes for how fast it is gathering. Well over an inch and it looks like it's on for at least another ten minutes (don't want to jinx it  )

It wasn't so much the prediction as the fact that we ended up with no snow, I remember being pretty neurotic about it even at that timerofl.gif

And thanks, sometimes though all you need to beat the Met Office is a window and a lamp post.

Err lost my Sky signal on the tv. Snow is currently very heavy so does anyone know - is that my dish causing the problem?

Absolutely. Looks like it's the ECM & UKMO (keep the cold & snaw) vs the GFS (hello, Mr Atlantic) once again. Know what I'm backing... whistling.gif
