Well... my earlier snow measurements were on a car roof that (unbeknownst to me) had been partially cleared during the morning! In fact, it's now over 14 cm deep -- measured on another car roof... which beats 2010's maximum depth and so makes it the deepest snow here since 1996, I think!

I have measured around 11cm in my rear garden in Bearwood, which puts it on a par with dec 2010 in terms ofdepth. however the drifting, winds and current -3 degree temp that my weather station is reading makes this a better snow event.

I would say looking like little further accumulations based on radar projections.

Found a level patch here on a bin in a sheltered corner of the yard...12cm. So for depth, 2010 still wins here. This one wins for wildness though!

Around 16cms here, although in excess of 20cms on front lawn, still snowing here but not as heavy now.

Snow perked up and is now slowing again in last hour. 6 inches level and 8 inches in the drifts...heaviest fall I think I've seen!

Can't believe this. 6 hours of heavy (small flakes) snow. Currently sitting at a lovely 9cm on the pavements, grass I have no idea but it can't be far off 15cm.

Still snowing steadily here. Defo heavier than before midday. Several inches now, possibly about 4 (10cm). taking dogs out soon, so will be interesting to see what fields are like.

Some of you are really lucky/unlucky on how you look at it

5cm in Shrewsbury on average I'd say. Drifts in a few places towards 1ft

Stopped at 1.30 and hasn't re-started

Standard snow event here really, usually one of these every other year

We always do worse than everywhere else in the midlands, even in a favourable set up!

Magic :D

Getting on for 15cm level snow here now, over 20cm in drifts.

Still snowing albeit very lightly.

so do I, very small flakes but lots of them, for me the best snow since '96

yes it has surpassed feb 2012 by some margin, December 2010 snow depths were uncomparble as it was the extreme cold that talk the bite really. Reminds me of boxing day 2000, about the same as that at the moment

A cm or two more will beat 1996, beyond that i have no idea!

Didn't get enough here tbh anymore forecast?

How much you got in Telford? About 3-6cm in Shrewsbury

Everywhere else reporting 10-20cm yet somehow, so far, we've yet again been dealt a dud compared to others. As I said before, I see an event like this every other year here

Cant really judge from the pic but there is at least 3-4 inches of snow on top of the wall biggrin.png Even though the radar shows a clear spot over us it's still very much snowing, all be it very lightly now. Telford

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
