New thread.....

I think the event was massively underplayed for here!

Carnage on the roads, I have got out on 3 occasions to push

Gridlock

There's been advance warnings out for a couple of days, including a METO Amber alert, for 5-10cm and widespread disruption to traffic across most of the UK especially the Midlands .

I fail to see how much more of an advance warning people needed.

.

Yes some signs of weakening now but that was expected but patches of snow are likely to come and go for the next 12-24 hours.

Over 10cm's here now. I think we can expect some more patchy snowfall over the next 24hrs. This will not be going anywhere fast :)

cannot imagine how hard its going to be for the rush hour this evening for all those commuters. we have well over 12cm in stoke, and almost double in drifts and exposed areas.

just spent the last couple of hours pushing cars up the road.

Why would anyone want to drive up a side road when there are alternative routes via major roads.

Still snowing here! Also had to post a photo of these guys. I've been hoping to snap them for a while as they've started to become garden regulars - slightly O/T but here you go anyway - I think they're gorgeous.

Just got in from work, sent home early. Roads are in a terrible state as expected. Hard to get a level snow amount here in Gornal as there's so much drifting. A good few inches though. Been easing off recently, shouldn't see much more accumulation now.

So how much longer is it going to snow for? Has it moved further east than expected? Did it stall sorry at work so I don't know

It's fizzled out here now, further flurries over the next 24 hours probably but most of it now over north Wales and the East Mids.

Well over a foot on the steps outside my house! Snow depths vary from a dusting to a foot, depending on how sheltered you are. Quite exposed to the elements on my street in Gornal!

Nice one, easily been the best day at home since December 2010 and excluding that, probably one of the best snow events since 2000 at least by the sounds of it. biggrin.png

Don't know, it has to be on a par with December 2010 at least, I think the drifting makes it a bit better. December 18th 2010 was actually quite calm if I remember correctly. Can't really pick between the 2 if I'm honest. Different situations (and locations for me...live in Wordsley until 2 months ago!)

This definitly beats 4th February 2012 hands down though!

Yes just signs of gaps in the area of snow over parts of the West Mids but i would think a very decent event so far for most of us.

Snow easing here but have 12cm with some blowing snow.

It looks like we will still get some snow off and on for some hours yet before it finally eases off.

I swear to god i'm gonna murder the next person that posts a picture of a Canadian record snowfall next to one of the UK's.

Do they not realise that this is a temperate maritime country and snow like this is really rare for lowland Britain??? GRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHH!!!!
