I can see the snow ploughs charging up and down the runway here at Gatwick and the snow is still falling, a little less heavy now, its quite an impressive sight

At some stage the heavier snow further west should eastwards - if there are reports from the other side of the county still of steady snow then the precipitation area can't be weakening that much (yet). Looking at the NAE, it actually takes till about 6pm till these is any indicated snow cover at all for these more eastern parts - so maybe we shouldn't be surprised. However the concern more and more it is that it will weaken quicker than the models suggest.

:good:

Still good snow coming down in central London, good periods where the flakes get big.

Well that had me running. My new weather station started bibbing (didn't know it could do that), and I got quite excited. Thought it was for snow but it was for a gust. Well there you go, you learn something new every day crazy.gif

Got to admit that I'm worried that another event has come to nothing here, but nice to read the other posts where they've had a good amount.

where do you think

Confidence is low for the track of that depression - it may miss the SE altogether. Best to wait for the updates.

Very little here in Rochester. Got sent home from T Wells in heavy snow and not even a mild covering here. Not impressed.

Dont bet on the stuff on sunday yet people, how many times in the summer do we see the precip going through the gap between Dover and Calais and hitting Belgium.

And if the LP Does not behave correctly in the next day or so the streamer could easily be replaced with cold South Easterlies for a day.

Not counting any chickens yet as I have lost them in all this snow. Same as Ashingdon at 0.0mm

And isn't it forecast to get milder after that ?

Great. Roll on the NE's in February.

Just going to pop that Snow Depth Challenge draw in here again, so members can keep tabs on their opponents!

A further little competition for you all. " The London & S.E Snow Depth Cup" ( 1st Round).

Taking Paul S's list order for his sweepstake, I've compiled a draw of matches, based on your snow depths come 21.00 hours Sunday evening. All you need to do is measure your snow depth at that time and post in this thread. NO CHEATING PLEASE.

Winners of each match-up, will go through to the next round. Should no further snowfall oppurtunities occur in our area for the rest of the Winter season, greatest depth of snow at 21.00 hours on Sunday 20th Jan. shall be deemed the overall winner.

Daniel, had to put you in, to give Sniffer Mark an opponent!

Keke, same applies, hope that's ok.

Remember, measure your depth at 09.00 hrs on Mon and post result. No cheating, no Kentimetres, TOWIEmetres or such like, just cms!

It would be an idea if you and your opponent, keep each other posted on how you are doing depth wise, if any.

Just a bit of fun. Enjoy.

Regards,

Tom.

That must be it now. Quite happy to extend measuring time until say 9 a.m Monday, if that's ok with everyone!

If it all melts, che sara, sara but it gives the whole region a fair crack of the whip.

Can you guys decide what time measuring depth should be, as long as its a fair and democratic solution, and post what you've decided by midday, please

It's been mostly very light snow in T.Wells with the occasionally moderate burst for 5 mins or so. Only a light dusting on the ground. It seems most of the heavy stuff went NW of me.
