Right, I really need to go to bed.....going to be a long day tomorrow....getting out of the driveway/village may take some time....then I have to get to Colchester by 7am!

Still snowing here light to moderate....still building in depth slowly, now -1.3C.

Good luck for tomorrow all. I will hopefully be on here after about 5pm.....if I get back from Colchester....may be an early finish!

Night all.....

Snowing nicely in Ippy. If it keeps up like this I won't be going anywhere tomorrow. Ho hum! :o

Goodnight all. Happy snow days. Take care and keep warm.

Off to sleep now, snow still going strong if not stronger than ever. Heavy falls, large flakes. Would not be surprised to see 4 inches if not more by the time I wake up. Strange situation where the everyone is looking to tomorrows event and many people in Norfolk and Suffolk might wake up to a real dumping. This has turned into one nasty blob.

Morning all. smile.png

The car indicated a constant 0C all the way in to work and then dropped to -1C as I got here - it often is slightly colder at my work place than just a mile down the road. This compares to the -5/-6C that it was showing yesterday morning, around Colchester.

Light flurries here at the moment, but no issues with driving.

Morning All

Up early looks like east of our region have had a few cm covering/top up over night, Up here in North Norfolk 20miles NNW Norwich had 2cm top up, checked the latest radar main front should reach Norwich/North Norfolk area around 2pm (rough estimate). Just seen the latest forecast on BBC now showing quite and active system moving north across EA on Sunday.

Looks like we could have major snow cover by the end of the weekend widely.

Stay safe out there peps...good.gif

Oh and snowing lightly here past hour.

I've just looked at the accumulated precipitation until midnight tomorrow - 42 hours from now - from the NMM hi res model (00Z run) and for a lot of our region it's not inspiring, if a huge snowfall is your thing. If you convert 1mm rain to 1cm of snow, then it might be a rough idea of expectations ( I know 1mm rain can convert to roughly anywhere between 6mm and 35mm, with dry snow converting to greater depths, but 1 to 10 seems a reasonable ratio to me)

Here is what it is showing.

Any of you good people in Lowestoft?? I have to go there this morning from Saffron Walden and wondered what conditions were like?

Even if I get there, will I get back early afternoon??

Shovel and blanket in car methinks....

I suppose a good thing is that NMM is still showing constant light precipitation at midnight tomorrow over most of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, so maybe it'll build more from there on Sunday?

Is anyone else currently suffering the same worries as me?

1) Today will be a non-event in our region with minimal amounts of snow for EA.

2) Tomorrow will see some light and insignificant snow.

3) Snow will stay out in North Sea on Sunday

4) Those rain/sleet symbols for Monday on the Met Office website yesterday will wash it all away.

Not Lowestoft, but Beccles, had another 3 - 4 inches overnight, and still snowing now! Who needs the main band?

Already an 'event' in Norfolk/Suffolk, another 3 or 4 inches overnight, still snowing, and expect more from the west later.

Anyway, back in your troll basket!

Tbh, I've got no huge expectations for this event, so anything will be a bonus. good.gif

Also NMM does seem to imply 8cms or so will build up by midnight tomorrow in Colchester, which isn't a bad snowfall - there must be a North Sea influence, by what the model is showing. It might also carry on for a lot of Sunday and maybe Monday might only be a temporary slow thaw, if it happens at all - to look on a positive note. :)

Not trolling Ribster. Genuine concerns and not exactly an "event" for all of East Anglia last night was it?

Morning all:

Currently -1.6C with a DP of -3C. Front does seem to be coming in a tad earlier than forecasted, it's now knocking on the door of Luton and Milton Keynes.

well that's a glass half empty approach I must say....mine is half full

1) Today will be a huge event with epic snow in our region.

2) Tomorrow will see heavy significant snow.

3) Heavy convective showers coming off the north sea to swamp us.

4) Those rain/sleet symbols for Monday will be turned to snow symbols and give us a right old dumping again.

well here is hoping I guess lol

No snow here last night, and MetO has also changed to us only having light snow from 3pm today (was light & heavy from 12 midday last night), wind has picked up though...
