New thread for the Ireland regionals.

Ramp away, discuss the ever changing Ireland weather and snow prospects.

Be good, no arguing or I'll be chopping heads. diablo.gif

Getting colder as the day is coming to an end here, fingers were getting numb under the gloves.

PS....Whiskey/Whisky, its does the same. drinks.gif

Anxious about the next few days, hoping being so close to the East coast doesn't spoil my chances. Hope not.good.gif

12z GFS is quite the snowfest! Starting in the north tomorrow evening and then the rest of the country later in the weekend.

Things looking interesting!

Issued at 17 January 2013 - 16:15

Rainfall Warning

Many parts of the country will have rainfall accumulations of 25 to 40mm tonight and for a time Friday.

Strong southeasterly winds will occur with the rain overnight. Ulster and northern counties of Connacht and Leinster will see rain turning to sleet and snow early on Friday morning giving some deposits on higher ground.

Valid until 18:00 hours Friday 18/1/2013

Yep, raining in Cork now. Not too heavy yet. Managed to cycle back from college without getting soaked.

Should we be concerned that Met IE are warning of accumulations only on higher ground?

That's only valid until Friday afternoon and was posted up at quarter past 4 so included their own model and earlier runs. They should give another update later today when the other 12z runs have come out that will likely sound much better.

Met Eireann are usually very conservative when it comes to mentioning snow, so even that slight mention is a positive sign imo!

Metcheck has changed forecast from heavy snow (6z) to sleet all day (12z) xc weather taken a step back to so I guess the GFS12z not as good for West NI

Metcheck aren't a reputable weather site. It will snow here,Mt on boards gives the highest totals to be in areas like southern Donegal. I asked for snowfall totals not hateful feedback lol jk

Well it is looking good for NI Friday for all but south Ulster, but becoming more widespread as the weekend moves on. Look at dew points from the 12z

I hope ye folks in the north have your cameras charged and ready for tomorrow. I suspect the best I'll see during this cold spel are the photos, so make 'em good!

Well here's a video (no sound) of me and my brother having a sledge race in 2010. This was at Carnalea golf club. I'm the bearded one (not holding the cam).
