On the Met O warning I notice that there's a mention of 15cm of snow falling in western parts of amber area within 3-6 hours. I thought this was a longer event or do they mean the heaviest in that time?

That's a good point, and bearing in mind for many of us the snow looks to continue into the daytime on Saturday I would imagine for some lucky people accumulations will be in excess of this.

Hey folks!

So the met office & bbc are suggesting continuous snowfall for nearly 48 hours in London. Surely that can't happen, right? I mean, that's impossible! Never known it, and I'm sure it'll more likely be sporadic.. an hour of snow, a few hours of cloud etc.

Currently +1.5 here, but there are cars parked out front that are still frosted, no thaw at all!

Hey folks!

So the met office & bbc are suggesting continuous snowfall for nearly 48 hours in London. Surely that can't happen, right? I mean, that's impossible! Never known it, and I'm sure it'll more likely be sporadic.. an hour of snow, a few hours of cloud etc.

From 30th Nov 2010, I had 3 days of pretty much non stop snow in my location nr Biggin Hill. At times it was heavy but mostly just light to moderate. The accumulations in the back garden measured 18 inches. BUT this event came from the East I think and a Thames Streamer was involved I believe so I'm not sure if we can get the same amount from the West. Perhaps some of the more experienced posters can confirm this.

Im hoping that the weather front bringing the snow on Friday pivots and has a different orientation. Rather than stretching north to south, it will stretch north west to south east.....much more snow.....lets see!

My back garden still has thick frost. It gets virtually no sun in Winter.

Just made it above freezing here at 0.1c after a low of -5.2c at 7am this morning. DP at zero. Heavy frost still everywhere. Bright, clear ans sunny all day, a couple of small clouds just popping up.

Currently 3c here in purfleet at 2.26, wonder what they will be when I finish work at five. Defiantly going to start the car at 4.55 tonight lol

Yes, much the same here, sun sits behind the trees out the back for much of the day, so in shadow, and of course the building casts a long shadow out the front too.

You want one that isnt so quite enthusiastic about the snow though... girls who adore the snow are generally to be found staring at lamposts, looking out of curtains and windows, watching radars, doing silly little dances at the sight of Snowflakes and posting on NW when Snow is forecast...not snuggling lol! My OH is not a fan of the snow for above reasons lol
