No one mentioning My Lidl Pony?

Right, this here weather... have I understood it aright?

It's cold and is going to stay cold.

There may or may not be white stuff falling out of the sky.

There may or may not be some sunshine.

There will be toys flying at pram-height.

Did I get all that? :)

I will be happy if it stays cold, because it feels nice and winter-y. I will be happier if we get a bit of that amazing only-in-Scotland weather when the sky is so dazzlingly blue it hurts your eyes to look straight up at it, and the pale yellow sunlight floods a sparkling glittering frosty world. I shall be bloody ecstatic if we get some white stuff flying about at a time when I can dash out and walk in it, and my joy will know no bounds if it settles!

Woke up this morning with a Tesco burger on my pillow.

Stop all the horsing around, just burger off!

The NMM shows the front kissing Stranraer and leaving Scotland...loads of precip coming off the North Sea getting picked up though. Some people are going to end up hugely disappointed in the next 48 hours :( Some will be snowed in :)

I think the Meto will be getting plenty of death threats as there are 1,426 users online and the MOD is STILL on page 8!laugh.png

Well, well well....you go to bed thinking the snow is on it's way, for most at least if not necessarily for this area. Then you get up in the morning and lo and behold the snow isn't really on the way for most but your own chances have maybe increased. Maybe we should all just forget about models, forecasts etc. I'm sure it was more exciting as a kid when you took no notice of these but, oh my, the joy of waking up and looking out to a covering of snow when you had no expectations of it being there.

As for the current day, a lot warmer here this morning, with temps around freezing rather than yesterdays well below. Still looks and feels wintery so for us at least lets hope any showers in the next few days stay as snow and freshens up the current cover.

some fairly beefy showers off the coast from newcastle. Seem to be heading slightly north west.

Since I haven't had a chance to check the models etc, is the whole system that was due to come in being pushed back west or is it tilting backwards (i.e. becoming more horizontal than vertical) as it moves in? If the latter I would assume that's probably good for us as it would surely mean a colder, more Easterly than South Easterly wind direction over Scotland?

LOL enjoying the humour this morning, and these charts are even joining in, bringing the weather forecast to a photo finish

Well it's Baltic here this morning, but not freezing about +1.5C - but I presume the balticness is the east air (block) which has moved west a bit

also the norwegian site which was showing no snow for the NE until late Sunday, now shows it could start tonight, again I presume because of the shift westwards in the block?

really busy today so no time to be in here today.. but this setup was/is just too addictive!

Have experienced this sort of set-up before and once that convection gets going, especially when the wind veers easterly, we can land up with some very good totals. All is not lost folks!

pushed back west but still with the N/S tilt, in my eye this means that we (IMBY) are now looking SE to see if any convection from the north sea can make it's way up here, haven't got to models yet either, but I think the tilt (well not a tilt more the top of the disappearing low), which should make the flow more easterly if it happens, should occur mid-late saturday

Here's everyone's favourtite new site, Norwegian site link for Kemnay: http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/Scotland/Kemnay/

Still looking like chances of snow in many places, just not the more widespread snowmaggedon predicted yesterday.

Like I said 12 hours is a long time in forecasting. The snow from the West will be worth watching on the Radar. Forget the forecasts just watch and see!

Nae burgering about from me I've got beef with the weather this morning.

Think we're going to need a smaller shield. I blame those fans all over the S. side of the central belt blowing the weather back the wrong way. Well hopefully this time the model output will be wrong in the right way.
