Lengthy clear periods and a few light snow showers overnight but not adding anything to the existing snow cover.

Currently dry and cloudy with a few flakes of snow drifting down.

Clear spells overnight with a force 3 NW through the early hours. Low –3.3c around dawn as the wind fell light. The temperature on the snow this morning was –7.0c, so a moderate to severe frost. At observation, frosty, a sheet of Stratocumulus has spread over the area from the NW, though still bright with sunshine in the eastern sky. Mean snow depth 1cm 60%

There was further intermittent light snow last night and through the early hours producing around 2cm, 80% cover. Low –0.2c with –2.5c on the grass, so a widespread slight frost also. At observation, light snow, still 2cm 80% cover. There was further snow through the morning and in to the early afternoon, occasionally turning moderate, though the accumulation only increased slightly as slow thaw set in. By around 13:00 GMT the snow stopped and was followed by a clearance to allow sunny spells. High 2.6c

January 2013 so far:

Cold and frosty although only just an air frost, a lot of cloud, mostly Sc, a low of -0.3C and patchy snow cover but less than 50%, max depth was 2cm+ at 1500 yesterday.

The cold is very limited here in the SW still. A beautiful day with current temperatures near 5C under sunny skies.

Light too Moderate Snow showers this morning gave way to sunny spells this afternoon.

Max temp 1.3C Now 0.3C cloud keeping it steady.

Just looked at snow risk chart particulary looking at Essex for Friday it says that snow for 18 hrs hope this is right because that pathetic amount we got yesterday has nearly all melted.hope I have posted in correct forum.

Snow flurries blowing through late morning/early afternoon, Temp not getting above 0c all day, 100% snow cover.

Overcast with occasional light snow until lunchtime when the sky began to clear from the north east resulting in a mostly sunny and clear afternoon with a max of 0.9c. This melted some of the lying snow.

Currently -0.5c with mostly clear skies and feeling bitterly cold.
