Back in brentford, all the snow in the field has melted away. Bit damp on the ground, very cold.

Temps needs to be falling away here, its too high 1.1c.

I guessing the colder uppers will deal with that over the next hour or two.

What you hoping for?

Might be misty up on those downs in the quiet car parks...-

Steve, how do you rate our chances for snowfall overnight for us here in DA9?

the next 3 hours is the transition time for the dewpoints-

Showers from the west are no good as they have atlantic moisture embedded so they will slow the rate of temperature decrease down..

I want a clear 4 hours now...

S

same here, these showers are increasing the "drip rate"

temp 1.2

dp 1.0

Temp. 1.8c

DP. 1c

Thankfully the air temp is falling - we have around four hours until the next ppn arrives, so should hopefully lose that westerly feed which is giving us the slightly warmer air!

Any idea why my avatar has changed to the SOS smiley on the iPhone?!

I much prefer the set ups that brings in convective showers from the north sea for our part of the country. I don't really recall a time in recent years where we've done well from frontal snow (please correct me here) It's so much more complicated and messy as there's always the mild sector close at hand. Today would have been awesome if it was similar to Jan 04 (?) when the front dragged colder air in with it from the north. It started as rain and then boom - heavy settling snow. Not sure what to expect this week

That green blob sarf of London - which has been feeding Surrey's snow lust diablo.gif - seems to be heading my way. Temp 1.1C and DP 1C, so it's likely to be marginal. Look to be some heavier echoes crossing over the Welsh border into Herefordshire too...

........... we usually get very snowed in up here 4-5 foot drifts in the back garden have been had many a time as we back onto open fields facing north east

Blimey. Im not sure whether to congratulate or sympathise with you !

4-5 foot drifts are a rarity I would have thought ?
