Had heavy snow in Heanor (85m ASL) since about 10 o clock. Just turned a bit lighter for a while now back to heavy stuck. Has been settling on wet roads although its maybe falling a little too wet at the moment.

LOL did West Midlands peeps get too annoyed at the snow reports?

Still snowing here, around 5cm on the ground now but it's coming towards squeaky bum time, temp risen up to 0.6c and the dew point has risen above 0c at 0.2c, can we survive the mild sector before the uppers drop again?

Still coming down here in Arnold, north of Nottingham. Looking at the radar I expect it to continue for the next hour or so. Cleared half the back garden to make a snowman, and it is starting to cover it up again.

Hmmm it's tough to say, temps will probably stay steady or rise a bit between now and 3pm. The milder sector stays over us from now until 3-4pm then the low pressure moves away South Eastwards and drags colder air back in from the East. If those that have snow now can survive the mild sector for the next hour or 2 then it will be a result! Because tonight it will freeze over and it doesn't look like it will get milder until Sunday at the earliest!

(snow coming down heavier again now)

Current temp 1C, dewpoint 0.9C. Moderate snow in Chilwell, still. Radar showing sleet imminent. As for GFS? Just hope it's barking as wildly up the wrong tree as the other models think!

Apparently just been on the radio that the front is slowing down crossing our region (East Midlands) so snow could last longer into the afternoon (if uppers allow).

Currently about a mile south of Nottingham City Centre we are experiencing some very heavy snow

If your dewpoint stays at 0 or very close and the uppers are below -3 or so, then in heavy precipitation, snow is certainly a good possibility due to evaporative cooling (I guess you probably know this!). Witnessed this in Northampton a few years ago with about 7-8 cms in just over an hour or so. Phenomenal.

Correction: radar showing sleet NOW. Mind you it showed light snow for 2 hours before we got a flake last night...

Continuing very heavy snowfall here in Newark, moderate accumulations so far and no fears of the mild sector having an effect here.

Wouldn't be surprised to see 10cm out of this front as it now begins to stall...
