The gfs 12z would actually be pretty good for those who live in Kent and East anglia in the short to medium term. The isobars are quite close together coming from the North east with cold uppers so those snow showers could be quite juicy :D Obviously the ECM and UKMO are better for the rest of the country and for longer term cold but you knowww... blum.gif

I'm not from the forum obviously but I can guarantee that they have been turned off to save bandwidth / reduce the load on their web servers as there have been posts by the mods stating this elsewhere and the same thing happened last time for the same reason.

They also turn off the number of users online.

Thanks, maybe a good idea for everyone to add their location to their signature as with the thread covering a wider areas than last year and no doubt loads of posts in the next few days it makes it easier to know where everyone is located.

Even if the 12z GFS is right after the weekend (which I doubt) - we still see a risk of snow Sat/Sun, as that low clips southern Britain on its way SE into France and again Monday and Tuesday from snow showers on a cold northeasterly. Then Wednesday onwards it turns less cold from the west.

ECM shows a risk of more general snow moving down from the north on Monday - which could bring moderate falls. Thereafter is gets very exciting for southern England in a 1978/79 winter kind of way.

80s weather question earlier

It is one of the best ecm run I have seen now as the ensembles from ecm agree. :-)

Yes, good point about the ensembles!

All we need now is the 18z to come in line and we have a perfect day.

Right. Time to dampen the mood. I am afraid that all the excitement has prompted me to buy a weather station. I fully expect to now see immediate downgrades of the models.

Alternatively it might not get here due to snow!

Things shaping up nicely in the model thread. I find if you take an 'average' in the mood there then you get a pretty reliable forecast! (Much like the models themselves)

Anyone seen this yet? A very interesting update from Alex Deakin on the potential, the SSW and the uncertainties.

Enjoy!
