Weather station suggestions + Help

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I got a Fine Offset WH2080 for Christmas and was very happy with it, loved the USB feature being able to update my twitter and use Cumulus, all was going swimingly until new years when the Anemometer packed in. A few questions

1) Is the reliability of this model good or are there common problems? Reviews seem fine on the internet

and 2) I have a budget of around £200, however if it was a really good one i could squeeze further than that, im really looking for one with USB connectivity however this is not crucial, i notice the Davis Vue is very good but without the pc interface at base cost.

If anyone could help me i'd be very greatful, would love to have a station set up for the potential of mid january onwards

Thanks in advance

Ed

      Hello
I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice on how to solve a problem with the temperature gauge on my weather station?
I have one of these https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-professional-solar-powered-wi-fi-weather-station-n23dq and the temperature sensor seems to have gone.  It's currently reading 19.5c, when actually it's 11c.  It has been like this for a few weeks, so I contacted Maplins to see if they could direct me towards spares, as it is out of warranty.
They have come back via email today saying they do not keep spares or know where to get them from.
Any advice on spares or how to get it working?
      Thanks in advance

      Hi all,

A retired police constable turned climatologist claims snow will fall all over the UK this winter! I talk about this in more detail on my blog here but thought I would put it in general discussion as well
The Met Office have already spoken up and said that he doesn't use a scientific way of forecasting and that winter will be cold, it's winter. Ha.
Anyway he goes onto say that Christmas day will be snowy for the north but no luck for the south. Apparently though the south of UK will see large amounts of snow into the new year and temperatures will drop into 5-. He says he is hardly ever wrong so who knows, we might be in for some luck here in the UK.
I personally can only remember one year that we had amazing snow here in the south of the UK. It was great. Either way fingers crossed.

Can you remember these, before the ITV weather. i worked at ITV at the time as a forecaster, briefing the presenters and creating the graphics. It was part of our job to chose which one to use. It should reflect the weather forecast, although sometimes we just chose our favourites, and at weekends were a little bit silly. Windy coat man was a big fave and umbrella woman. All the lightning ones got banned as they were a risk to people with epilepsy. Some were only allowed to be shown around the Late weathers as they were too scary. The office used to get lots of phone calls and comments, some quite deranged about these idents. Probably the most remembered set from PowerGen

Hi - I was wondering if someone could help with a question on the best forecasting site, app or API for forecasts i want in the UK.  I need approximately 80 forecasts returned for a set of co-ords all at the one time preferably in tabular form. Metcheck displays multiple locations for things like UK seaside but if anyone knows of a way of extracting this info in to a table then this would be very helpful. thanks for any help

      Good Afternoon and Hello Everyone!
I am new to the forum and I apologise that I am only coming here now! I am not however, new to the weather world! I've studied and enjoyed the weather since I was little and share this passion with my Dad. We love a bit of weather chat and study!
Anyway....... I have had the same weather station since November 2015 and it has been great. We registered it with wunderground when it was set up and all was fine. Between March 17 and June 17 we had issues with our wifi and it stopped reporting. This has since been fixed and there have been no further issues.
Somehow though I am now unable to log in to my PWS section of Wunderground. I have had to re-register my email address. The only solution I can see is to create a new PWS identity, which seems a shame as this will mean a break in the continuation of my data which I will be sad to lose. and will leave me unable to delete the bad data that it has generated... (on two or three days it has reported the temp as being 60 degrees Celsius)  I have emailed Wunderground twice, but as of yet have not had a reply.
The weather station is clearly still logged in... so I daren't touch it and mess with the settings in case it stops reporting!
      Station ID is: IENGLAND1052

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any suggestions of how I can fix this?

      Thank you for reading x
