Not fully three days into 2012, and I've already recorded 39.6mm of rain, which is more than some parts of Cambridgeshire have in a whole year. By my calculations, at this rate I am on target for over 5700mm of rain this year.

Today's nothing - almost 7 years ago now, we had 179mm in 4 days. That's when Carlisle narrowly avoided being washed away.

wow thats some serious rainfall. i need 144mm in the next 16 hours or so to match it lol

Ah the joys of extrapolation eh!

27.2 mm in the first two days of January which puts me in line for 4978mm by the end of the year. I wish!

It looks like this month is going to be another very dry one. Ive only recorded 11.4mm of rain (22%) so far.

Last January managed only 17.6mm (35%) and could still be beaten.

Agree, 22mm so far here, so would need to be very wet to reach our January average 80mm

61.7mm here up to 0900 yesterday. There's still time for January to achieve at least average rainfall but equally we could be heading for the 4th consecutive drier than average one; 30 year average here is 108.5mm.

The last wet Jan' was in 2008 which had 200.2mm.

Limped to 57.9mm here with 34mm of that coming in three days. Looking at the latest model runs there's good chance of yet another dry month being recorded.

42.9mm, after the wet start (over 30mm in 3-4days) I was expecting it to continue but I guess not.. still not terribly below average

What a differance six days make 80.5 mm now 93.8% of rainfall. So odds swing towards an average month depending how far east the front makes it in the coming days.

104.5 mm in January which is 96% of the 30 year average and makes it the wettest Jan' since 2008.

Much more rain needed if we are to replenish the deficit of the last two years, the reservoirs around here are still very low, barely more than half full.

There was only 20.4mm of rain here in January, which is 40% of average.

Only two months out of the last 23 have had above average rainfall now.

We've only had 743.6mm of rainfall in those 23 months, compared to an expected 1136.5mm. A very prolonged dry period.
