Noticed a cherry tree, that usually blooms in Spring, with blossom on it today...How odd?

It was a fine, sunny late autumn afternoon here but it was also cold and breezy, with icy ditches up the glen.

This little red, along with a few others were the only wildelife spots.

The Jay in my garden likes attacking our tree rat. Magpies are none too pleased either. Obviously you can only choose your friends.

As Oceans Warm, the World’s Kelp Forests Begin to Disappear

Kelp forests — luxuriant coastal ecosystems that are home to a wide variety of marine biodiversity — are being wiped out from Tasmania to California, replaced by sea urchin barrens that are nearly devoid of life.

Damselflies in distress flee north to Britain

Quote

Record numbers of rare dragonflies were spotted across Britain this year because of changing weather patterns linked to global warming.

A scarlet darter was found at Longham Lakes, in east Dorset, the first sighting in 13 years and only the eighth time that the insect had been recorded in the UK.

Red-veined darters, which are normally found in Africa and southern Europe, were spotted as far north as the Orkney Isles, according to research by the British Dragonfly Society (BDS).

It followed warnings of “ecological armageddon” after research in Germany showed that the number of flying insects had collapsed by more than 75 per cent over the past 25 years. Dragonflies are carnivores and rely on other insects to survive.
