In the links I gave yesterday I totally forgot about what is probably the best infra red movie sequence of satellite data, see below. Watch how the whiter part=the jet streak moves, this is where the surface depression was deepening .

http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html

For another time play this through with another screen open to look at the Fax chart at the same time, stopping the video sequence at times when charts are available.

Remains of the front going round us just now. Pennines really killed it.

Ah well looks like we'll have to wait for the next storm. This one isn't delivering very much unfortunately.

Within the clear slot is the pressure differentials so it remains to be seen wether the 976mb brings anything to the surface across the north or if its just going to be another 'squid' off the Atlantic. Still cant complain as its the first storm of the Autumn season and there'll hopefully be plenty to come now the Atlantic is back to its old tricks.

Max of 23mph down here so far.

A typical breezy day for the southwest. The rain is whats affecting us the most.

Guest William Grimsley

Jo's been out to meet the storm this morning:

More here too:

Poor Jo! Don't get too wet!

Max of 23mph down here so far.

That seems quite accurate for an inland area of SW England. The peak of the winds is likely to be around 16:00, here. :D

So far its been no where near as bad as forecast looks like Scotland took the brunt and the storm eased significant as its moved into England

50mph gusts were forecast for wide parts of the UK by the beeb last night has anyone got close to that?

It's been sunny for a while in the very far north of the north of England Posted Image

Lovely here since around 16:00 just the wind spoiling it now

Highest gust here on Norfolk coast 44mph at 3pm, however that might change when that squall line comes through, although it looks like it's breaking up

Hit 38.9 mph as the cold front cleared earlier. A max of just 16.4 mph here in barnsley in the last hour. I'm suspecting it will increase again soon though.
