After a fairly quiet Autumn and early winter this coming weekend looks interesting. Winds gusting between 60 and 70 mph entering Ireland during Friday morning then spreading east during the afternoon while a stronger burst of winds hits North Western Scotland. 80 mph upwards for Isles. Saturday sees winds 55mph top 65 mph quite widely across Southern Scotland and Northern England. North eastern Scotland already has had one stormy period but this is more widespread.

Very slight downgrade with the winds with of 75 mph upwards for Scotland reduced in area still nasty though. Also New Years Eve maybe stormy for Central England Southwards. It's in FI land and depends on a secondary feature so could well go next run.

Met Office have 4 days of weather warnings, with 60-80mm from the first batch and another 60-80mm from the second batch in the worst affected areas, hills of Wales and NW England. So some serious rainfall on the way over the next 4 days with severe flooding possible.

The wettest places could see 100-150mm over 4 days.

Winds arriving in the West from nine and then slowly moving east. GFS shows winds in excess 70 mph North Western Ireland andwell into the 60 mph range right to the west coast of the uK at 21:00. The storm will move away north westward. The strength of the winds on the front has been downgraded with winds just nudging in the 50's as it moves east.

Windier conditions are expected across Ireland and Northern England during Sunday with gusts reaching 60 mph plus but again could be downgraded nearer the time.

Gusting up to 47mph here at the moment it's been doing this for most of the night and day. Current Met Office forecasts give me 87mph gusts.

Cor blimey. Never had a gust like that from a windstorm but we had insane winds from a microburst from a severe thunderstorm in May 2010 which I estimated at 100mph+. It flew heavy cast iron garden table and chairs 20m across the garden into the hedge. Never seen wind like it anyway.

Using the high res model NMM for tonight,

Early this evening gusts over Western parts of the UK will be around 60mph and 70mph on the coasts,

At midnight Northern and Western parts of the UK get 50 to 65mph gusts but Western and Northern Scotland gusts over 75mph,

Early hours of Saturday morning gusts over 70mph will move across the far North of Scotland meanwhile the rest of Scotland and Northern parts still get gusts around 60mph,

After this the winds start to ease down.

Yep weathermaster , was a lull in the winds for a few hours there but getting quite windy again now.Expecting the worst gusts from around 9 this evening thru to around 3in the morning.

After a quieter day tomorrow the gales look to return on Sunday morning,could well be equally stormy then.

NMM model on the NWRadar reflects this perfectly, a stormy night for Ireland and Scotland to come. Places further afield such as here are now reaching +50mph gusts in association with the soon-to-be 960mb low gradient.

Sorry haven't been able to do any updates through the evening, anyway gusting over 60mph at the moment the moon is out though and lights up the place can see the waves crashing into the rocks in the moonlight. Windows are shaking and lamp post's are shaking about.

Yep power is still on lights did flicker a bit around 10.30pm to 11pm and I've just recently found out that's when gusts were reaching over 70mph.

At the moment I believe the worse has passed for me and the high winds are moving North now. Still getting gusts over 60mph though but slowly dropping.

NMM shows the worst of the winds (72mph and above in many places) across the Western Isles and making inroads to mainland Scotland within the next hour or two.

some good wind across the Midlands now, the pylon wires are singing well ahead of the oncoming rain band.

I guess I will be stuck on this mooring for another week yet.
