With some imminent very wet and possibly windy weather on its way to our part of the World in the next 3 days, here's a new thread to discuss local weather and regional meteorological observations.

I hope that everyone remains dry and flood free.

Data and chat from the lead-up to this (and other local conversation) can still be viewed here:

Here's a few that give concern, but it's on its way now anyway as I listen to it lashing against the office windows:

Guess who got caught out in the heavy rain? Yep me! Boy is it coming down and this is just the start! Something keeps saying in my head "I'm glad this is not snow" because the travel chaos it would cause would be far greater than the flooding it could cause. BUT floods could be more damaging :( so can't win! Wait and see, pray that everybody stays flood free (some how I doubt that) :(

Thanks for this John, I'm glad that there seems to be less of a problem for some. Do you think it still might downgrade over the next few hours?

Well it chucked it down on the way home. I was leaving a good gap between me and the car in front and idiot drivers kept jumping in it and then slamming their brakes on so that I nearly went into the back of them about 4 times on the way homediablo.gif

Only just noticed the xmassy themed logo!

Had 3mm of rain from the heavy pulse of rain that recently passed through.

Weather not looking too great in the next few days with a wet weekend likely too, particularly Saturday.

GFS 12z precip. accumilation up to Sunday:

Feel very sorry for those in the south-west, sadly more flooding is likely in parts of the south-west over the next few days.

Further out to this Christmas period, at the moment it is looking likely LP will dominate the weather, temperatures around average with the risk of rain and windy conditions at times.

GFS for Christmas Day: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1441.png

... and ECM: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1441.gif

Not mild but certainly not the Christmas weather we are all after!
