Forecast a bit of snow tonight. Midnight to the early hours. But due to the rain today it's not going to settle. Which is a shame because it's supposed to snow for a timeframe of about 4 hours.

Oh well it had to happen - please accept resignation from my 2013 membership. Off up to the hills tobogganing now!

Still firmly in- yes parts of North Plymouth had snow, but here? Nothing. Not even a sniff.

Even in the next ice age most of Plymouth and Cornwall will be basking in 5c with people flocking to our beaches.

Honestly you couldn't make it up!

yes Phil, especially tough on S Devon as yesterdays charts suggested you might be in luck. My son is in Plymouth and for him the only upside for him was that he is recuperating from a leg ligament injury and could not have gone tobogganing anyway.

Hopefully better luck for you next week - looks like there are chances yet to come.

With 12cm of snowfall today, I am well and truly out of this club.

Good luck to all who still remain, still more forecast over the next few days.

Not strictly true as there were some snow flurries early last Sunday morning, but since then in Glasgow, no snow. Nada. Zilch. Fine sunny crisp winter days.

Had that weather front from the west on Friday been rain it would have made straight for us, but no, instead we get the rare chance to have the finest weather in Britain.

Yes yesterday's snowfall was certainly a Wales, N Ireland, Merseyside/Cheshire, West country, West Midlands and parts of CS England event. For most places east of the M6 and the vast majority of Scotland and Cumbria it was a non-event unusually. Very unusual for SW/W Scotland to see no snow, yet N Ireland get doused in the stuff. The way the front behaved was very unsual, pivoting where it did and then breaking up even when it crossed the Irish Sea which normally would have helped aid instability.

It seems as if there is a snow shield around Cumbria, and much of Scotland away from the favoured Eastern/NE parts of the country.

We are much more likely to see snow if Glasgow gets it aswell. The NW quarter of the British Isles (Cumbria, N Ireland, NW/W/SW Scotland) has a very different climate to the rest of the UK, one influenced most heavily by the atlantic and when the atlantic is in a quiet odd mood as it is now, we often see very different conditions to the rest of the country - i.e. normally unusually dry quiet conditions.. pity this doesn't ever seem to happen in the summer.

Not a flake nor a grain of graupel has fallen here, not even a proper sleet flake! Very poor... It promised so much!

Well that front in Cornwall is sliding south east.
