No flakes here other than the pack of 4 in my fridge!

Plenty of time yet though, even if the models say otherwise ^^

December is not renowned for being a particularly snowy month, easterly and northerly airstreams are needed especially in the south if you want a snow cover, northern parts can do well from potent polar maritime blasts, but more typically precipitation when it does occur in December is most likely to be associated with milder airstreams from the west and south west.

Many places have however seen alot of snow in a number of recent Decembers most notably 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010, but as others have noted, 2011 was snowless in a number of spots, 2006 and 2007 nationwide were preety snowless, and further back the likes of Dec 94, 97, 98, 01 and 04 in the main gave very little snow especially in central and southern parts, so perhaps are expectations for snow in December have increased due to higher than average instances of the stuff in very recent years accompanied by potent cold spells.

March can beat December hands down for snowfall, and the snowiest period of the year on average is much later in the winter from around the 20th Jan through to 20th February.

A number of places have been done quite well so far this season for snowfall, most especially NE parts, with some decent localised falls in early December, however, granted the second half of December has been very poor for snowfall even on high ground in the north and the opening days of January certainly are not going to deliver much snow..

We had a very heavy hail shower this evening which covered everything white and looked like snow, I really enjoyed it.

Had a feather dusting back in October can't believe you missed out on that especially as your only a couple of miles up the road.

That's Autumn anyway so wouldn't have counted anyway. But nope no snow here still and will close on a snowless start to Winter.

Stormless year and bar that bit of snow in February (that turned to rain), and the April snow event it's been a snowless year, nothing yet this winter, just some sleetiness a few weeks ago.

I think 2013 will be another trying year for snow and cold lovers. I have not even seen a flake of snow since December 2010...

We got lucky at the start of December (Glasgow) had about 4" on Sunday night I think it was? And it stuck around (in muddy clumps) for a week or so.

Unfortunately, haven't seen any since December 2010 but I am hopeful of this potential upcoming cold spell

Chances improving slowly for this snow drought to end. All really depends if the ECM goes along with the GFS or not.

Why, does the ECM or any model control the weather?tongue.png

Hi all smile.png

After having a couple of requests to start a 'No Snow club' I've decided to open one here.

Although the snow hasen't reached most of us yet , there is a chance that something may be heading our way tomorrow night and then into next week and if for some reason it dosen't happen IYBY it's surely gonna feel like the end of the world sad.png .

So please feel free to rant, rave, moan and cry here if no snow decides to visit you this winter.....

Count me in...a few flakes of non-settling snow in November can't count, I hope!

Hoping my membership will be of a very short duration.

How's about some sort of honorary award for anyone still here come May?
