The Davis on the house roof recording some remarkably rapid variations in temperature this morning. There's been an area of fog in the valley for most of the night, it's upper limit mostly around 230m but occasionally as high as 290m, and tongues of cold air from its upper surface intermittently make it as far as where I am. The result is the temperature varying between -3.0c and -5.7c within the space of two minutes. This has happened 4 times in the last hour.

A dry and mainly clear night but with Ci developing during the early hours. Freezing fog developed in the valleys early yesterday evening and intermittently got as high as 290 m or so, mostly though it was below 230m.

The fog level had a significant effect on the temperature. The minimum 20 feet above the house roof on the Davis was -5.7c, in the screen in my back garden it was -5.9c but 20 m higher in my screen on the moor, where the fog never reached, it was -4.6c.

Currently dry with occasional watery sunshine and a layer of freezing fog persisting below 200m.

Blimey TM, a very low grass minimum, i would think unusual for your location, more akin to the bottom of the valley.

Not really that cold overnight with a temp at midnight of 0.7C and min temp of -1.2C despite clear skies for most of it.

It remained clear this morning before turning partly cloudy during the afternoon. Very cold in the daylight hours with a high of just 0.1C.

Currently -0.2C and 96% humidity. Theres a steady breeze which is unusual for such a cold day.

Can't give a max temp as we've just moved out of the minus zone for the first time today thanks to this stubborn cloud.

Don't see how it's forecast to be <-4C tonight....
